a little basic and old school enough to seem a tad dated, but pretty well done if you like them a little malty, nice and bitter, and sort of balanced in a big way. light copper color to this with a great head on it from the tap and pretty lacing as it drinks down, close to clear, looks nice. the aroma is bold, piney and bitter hops most of the way, not green or overly dry hopped to me, but a lot in the kettle here for sure, some biscuity malt in support, not too sweet to me, but its not totally lost to the hops which is nice, and the ferment seems clean enough. the flavor is bright, grapefruit and spruce up front, more high alpha hop intensity on the back end, but it doesnt linger too long past the swallow which is nice, a faint yeasty thing as it warms but rather tidy overall, and a honey note to the grain, cereals and graham cracker and maybe a bit of an english note, good support structure for all these hops. good carbonation, a little slick oily hop character on the tongue, and assertive bitterness on the swallow. a timeless interpretation of the style, and this has a role, even if the rest of the ipa in vermont has evolved well beyond it, enjoyable brew.

From the pint can, it pours a clear amber with a modest head that slowly dissipates as you enjoy the beer. In the nose, it is hoppy (citra, Mosaic and CTZ hops) - can't say much as my nose is stuffy. In the mouth, it is hoppy and bitter. Leans West Coast, IPA wise.

On tap at Two Brothers tavern. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white head that dissipated immediately. The smell started off with a burst of sweet cherries followed by some sweet apples, light apricots, and then a light citrus to gently run into a smooth caramel. The taste was mainly sweet and barely carried any bitterness about it. A lingering semi-sweet aftertaste leads to a quick wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation felt pretty good as an AIPA and it brings about decent bitterness to hit the tongue. Overall, I say this was interesting, as it had a sweet nose and taste but carried the typical palate of an AIPA.

IPA? Reads more like a Scottish 60 shilling ale. I'll take it.
