One of my favorite stops on my VT brewery tour. We pulled in to this little place in the middle of a rain storm and wanted to stay all night. We sampled Sunshine & Hoppiness, Summer's Promise, Heart of Lothian, and Sunny Storm. We got to chatting with the staff and they were awesome. I was soon sharing Westvleteren stories with the owner Steve. He then brought out a beer that wasn't finished yet to see our opinion on whether of not he should filter it. This place is a must go on mynext trip back through VT.

only thing to change.. make it a tasting room.. where people can actually sit down and enjoy a pint.. currently one must stand or walk around the small retail shop with the drink of choice. make it comfortable more people will come in and stay a while. Great IPA and IIPA

Lesser known VT brewery south of Middlebury village, but as a life long VT resident that has over 20 breweries within a 2 hour drive, it's one of my favorites. Simple tasting room with branded logo gear/glassware for sale and always knowledgeable/helpful staff. IMO a nice beer selection and not just on the the "more hops is better" bandwagon, one of my all time favorite beers was on tap there a few weeks back [a double Belgium].

Not sure if this is technically a reviewable place, based on BA standards...though I do believe that all tasting rooms and places with stores should be reviewable, as it is important to the owners of the place, and to us the consumers for reference.

Also, I'm not sure if they actually sell homebrewing supplies, but they are the base of some sort of VT homebrewing club, and they have official homebrewing classes there.

Anyway, for as long as this review stays up, here's what you can expect from Drop-In Brewing. It's a pretty simple building, warehouse-like, but polished up and tidy. Local breweriana and an enviable personal glassware collection line the walls. In the tasting room, you can sample any of the beers on tap (four when I visited), and there is plenty of merch. I chatted for a while with one of the owners, and she was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and described her husband's--also an owner--passion for craft beer and homebrewing. They don't serve food, but there is a very nice restaurant /café next door (literally walk through the door into the next room; it's in the same building), where the jovial crew will cook you up something nice, mostly involving lots of organic and local meats and cheeses and vegetables, with names based on generally classic rock songs and albums (think Hendrix, Who, Dylan, Beatles, etc.). They make artisan cheesesteaks, and as a discriminating Philadelphian, I can say I was quite impressed. They're not officially affiliated with the brewery, I believe, so I won't give a food rating.

Anyway, the beer was all pretty simple, but tasty, and they seem to have lots of ideas for the future, so this is definitely a place to keep an eye on.
