This was the third of three IPAs I had a Cafe Abseits on 27SEP14. The 0.33l bottle cost €4.50, has 70 IBUs, and is hopped with Simcoe, Amarillo, Chinook and Cascade.
It poured a medium-dark amber, with some orange thrown in. Had a touch of haze, and a thin, light beige head. The foam started at 1/2" and ebbed rapidly to the rim, and it did have some light lacing. Nose was citrussy with some sweet tangerine; mild overall, though. Body was medium-plus, and it felt quite smooth and silky going down.
Subtle caramel hit the palate, along with some tangerine. Soon thereafter it was bitter citrus, rindy and pithy. The long finish had plenty of bitter hops lingering. A solid IPA. Prosit!!

10/2012 batch
A: Hazy orange/yellow/brown with not much of a head. Gusts of microcarbonation seen behind the haze. 3.5
S: Yes, IPA, but there’s a bit of fruity sourness, like a sweet, decaying peach. But also cinnamon apple pie. 4
T: A cross between an IPA and a Belgian sour with a dirty hop flavor. Somewhat bitter and tart, almost in a lemony way. Sour and lemony but okay. Unsweet pear 3.5
M: Bit of carbonation sting, and barely dry.
O: Alright, but barely an IPA. If it is, it’s certainly in the Belgian direction.
