poured 12oz bottle into Guiness pint

A - Dark coffee brown with a massive 3 finger tan cascading head. Retention is very good and there is abundant lacing. It looks very appealing.

S - Subdued milk chocolate and light roasted malts. Some tame coffee bitterness. Not much else.

T - I get milk chocolate with only hints of coffee. There is some tame bitterness from the roasted malts. Pretty straight forward, yet tasty.

M - It is smooth and creamy and has a medium body. Good carbonation.

O - An easy drinking Irish Dry Stout that lacks excitement. I wouldn't buy this, but I'm more than happy to drink it when it is given to me.

Neck printed with Julian date "2232" or mid-July 2012.
Brewed in Stevens Point, WI by Point Brewing for Roundys, as a house brand for Copps and Mariano's stores. Served in a tulip glass.

Pours a reddish black with a one finger width of foam, that quickly dwindles to a thin ring around the edges. Black with no highlights in the glass. Minimal spotty lacing.

Light toasty aroma, light coffee and toasted bread notes. Molasses.

Flavors of mild coffee, dry roast malt, cola, clean and dry finish. Light bodied and carbonation that compliments the taste. Lingering toasty aftertaste, minimal bitterness. Smooth and drinkable, nothing mindblowing, but not a bad session beer to find in the grocery store.

Pours dark brown with a thin head that becomes wispy.

Pours dark brown thin tan head that soon becomes wispy. Very little lacing sticks.

The smell is of charcoal, chocolate, coffee, molasses, dark fruits.

The taste is of sweet chocolate, molasses, dark fruits. Dry, roasty finish.

On the thin side, but pretty creamy. Smooth.

Surprisingly complex for the style. Sweet, roasty and dark. Well-balanced. Very reasonably priced. A solid stout.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Well, I had another spot left in my Mariano's mixed sixer, so this little stout got to join its "pilsner-style" lager brother. It pours a clear brown-ruby topped by a finger of relatively short-lived wan tan foam. The nose comprises black tea, light walnut, very light roasted malts, and a hint of what may pass for coffee at some sad excuse for a break room. The taste holds notes of mild roasted malts, walnut, dark toffee, and a twinge of light metal running up its (and, later, my) spine. The body is a very light medium, with a moderate carbonation and a slightly watery feel. Overall, a sad, watered-down bit of a stout. It ain't offensive, necessarily, but it's nothing I would likely pick up again.
