Vibe is lacking somewhat in character. This is a second location and it shows. Lots of "manufactured" ambiance.
Beers are well made. These guys are particularly known for their flagship Workhorse IPA.
I tend to come on busy nights (trivia or major sporting events), and I've always been fairly impressed with the service despite high volume of customers.
The variety of beers is somewhat lacking. Though they have many taps, they do not always offer a variety of styles. I was in once not long ago and their taplist included an IPA, an experimental IPA, a fruit IPA, an imperial IPA, a red IPA, a black IPA, and a hoppy pale ale. If you're not in a bitter hoppy mood this severely limits your choices.
Food is good, albeit somewhat greasy and expensive. It's not the worst bar food you'll find.

Nice Place, great sliders at happy hour. I had a pint of the Belerner.. good, but quite tart. Atmosphere of the place was pleasant. I would go again.

This was stop #20 for my wife and I on a 21-day pub-crawl from Michigan to N. CA and OR. We stopped here on a Saturday afternoon to enjoy their beers. The pub is located in a storefront setting along a busy commercial street. The place is more like a restaurant that a pub, but the beer made up for that. We had a standard sampler of 8 of the 11 beers that were available. The beers were all to style or better, and the Rites of Spring Maibock was exceptional. The Workhorse IPA did not seem hoppy enough for an IPA, but it was still a good beer. We had no food other than a snack, and it was very good. We’d come back again when in the area.

Located just north of Sellwood, I guess Laurelwood is still trying to find the perfect fit for their pub locations (I gather NW Portland wasn't it, so let's try the SE part of town). This latest Laurelwood rendition is fairly small, consisting of a fairly small dining area and then a modest size bar to the right when you walk in from SE Milwaukie. It's really not much more than a hole in the wall, though it's a nice enough spot. They have a couple of TV's over the bar area and the usual Laurelwood beer decals and decorations, but not much in the way of decorations otherwise. Still, if you like Laurelwood beers (and I do), then this is a comfortable enough place to hang with a glass of Organic red or Portlandia pils (or deranger, when it's on). This particular version had all the usual core beers, and then 4 or 5 seasonal and limited release beers as well. I was tempted to get the barrel aged Old Reliable, but after a glass of the excellent megafauna DIPA, I figured I would leave that to another day. All in all, I think there were some 12 Laurelwood beers on tap this day.

Service was decent I thought. I sat at the bar and was well taken care of by the friendly, quick bartender. Didn't try the food, but the menu looked pretty similar to other Laurelwood pubs I've visited. Also, like the old place over on the NE side, this is a kid friendly establishment (a number of families were enjoying dinner the evening I stopped in).

This place is located fairly close to my condo in West Linn, so I'm sure I'll be back. Good to know this place is around over in Sellwood.
