A: Black with a red hue if held to light. Very little head, some lacing.
S: Caramel and malts, can detect some rye. Definitely lots of vanilla in here.
T: Lots and lots of vanilla. The rye provides a nice back-end bite and the oak is somewhat detectable as well. I'm mostly getting vanilla and caramel flavors.
M: Creamy smooth and perfectly carbonated. Goes down way too easily with no heat to speak of.
O: I'm a huge fan of this beer and its up-front vanilla. This is one of the best porters I've ever had.

At the brewery, and a growler to take home. Easily one of the best porters I've had all year, the other standout being Everett from Hill Farmstead. Huge vanilla and oak notes, super sessionable, but sweet, smoky, complex, warming and inviting. Loved it. Will get more asap.

a neat porter, inspired by the smell of ponderosa pines. this beer pours a thick dark brown color, dense and murky, with a prominent but quickly fading tan head. the nose is splendid, fresh caramel, vanilla beans, and milk chocolate. the malt profile is dark and roasty, bordering on burnt, in a good way. this is earthy and deep, a nice early winter beer, with just enough sweetness. the complexity is huge, interplays between warm vanilla and caramel malts, its a nice marriage really. good mouthfeel with a full body, i like my porters heavy. moderate carbonation and a desserty finish. a nice incarnation of the porter.
