Thanks to cavedave for the nice BIF beer. Tasted 25 January 2013, reviewed from notes.

Pours a pale orangey yellow, quite cloudy. It has an odd color, like a tangerine drink or something, with that soft orange tint. Thin layer of white head, thanks to a gentle pour; it quickly sizzles away, leaving little to no lacing.

Smell is tart, wheaty, with a twist of peach. All things that I expected, but they work really well together, dancing off each other, one adding highlights as another shines. Really nice.

Taste is clean and crisply citrusy sour. A pronounced peachy sweetness makes the beer all that much better, turning it into a sour-sweet contrast that I really enjoy.

Mouthfeel is delightful. Light-bodied, with a wheaty fuzziness. Carbonation that surges up, keeping things moving, then fizzles and fades. Quite good, and a perfect complement to the rest of the beer.

A darn good berliner weisse. I really like the peach, as the juicy sweetness makes a really nice complement to the citrus sour. Quite tasty.

The beer has an aggressive apricot jam or a strange chemical candy peach aroma.

The flavor follows with follows with that strange peach flavor. A nice tartness, and then onto a candy and grainy malt body.

For some reason, the beer just doesn't taste exactly right.

a hazy orangy pour with two fingers of head which diminished quickly into a thin ring. smells wonderfully refreshing.. lots of lacto sourness comes into the nose immediately, definitely getting some peach, lots of wheat, funky bretty notes. ohhh that tastes excellent.. a subtle sourness/tart flavor of lactobacillus and peach combined. not extremely mouth puckering sour or anything - but just enough to bring out the fruit flavor AND the wheat taste. light in body and high carbonation fits the style perfectly.

this is my first beer from sloop, and i'm impressed. this is a wonderful take on the berliner weisse style, and not to be overlooked. i'll have to check out some of their other brews.

Bomber into a snifter. This review is a long time coming since cavedave put it on my radar. The brew appears a clouded golden color with a frothy cap that exceeds your typical berliner head formation and far exceeds expectations regarding the lacing and head retention.

The aroma is strong with more of an apricot jam aspect than peach. Somewhat earthen and lemony with a grain backing presence that doesnt necessarily scream wheat. The more I smell this, I cant get over how much this smells sweet and candy-like which is quite atypical of the style regardless of a fruit addition.

The flavor is quite tart almost to the point of being sharp and acedic moreso than lactic. Just like the aroma hinted, there is a deep fruit apricot flavor that is much more prevelant than the typical lemony lacto fruity quality typically seen in the style. Perhaps the most distracting part of this brew is the candy-like sweetness that lasts long after each sip and feels very unnantural. The sweetness is almost like marshmallow fluff.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. Dont get me wrong, this is interesting and enjoyable by its own regard but it isnt something I would want to drink on a regular basis. That borderline cloying sweetness to the finish really clashes with the tartness and makes for quite a disjointed and seemingly artifical brew. Maybe the bottle I tried was an anomoly, if that is the case I wouldnt mind having this again. But as is, I would not seek this out.
