From the 375 ml. bottle. Sampled on March 16, 2014.

The pour is amber brown with little to no head. The head that is there is tan and fizzes out nearly immediately.

The aroma is of sour grapes and caramel malt. Brettanomyces yeast brings out a sense of wood.

The body is light.

The taste has a decent enough roasted malt character that is swept up in the sour, tart finale. A bit of local controversy surrounding this beer but once it is gone, it is gone.

Received in a trade with JasonHaviland

Poured from a bottle into my my snifter.

Pours a ruby red with very little carbonation, head dissipated very quickly

Smell is a little musty, with sour cherries dominant.

Taste is similar with heavy sour cherries and musty funk. Definitely pick up the barrel, with a sweet hint of vanilla.

Not a bad beer, the issues surrounding its release sure didn't help it.

I would highly recommend this beer, I'm going to give the other bottle of this a while and will revisit it later.

Bottle from Bert's
Pours a slightly hazy deep reddish brown color with a smallish bubbly white head that dissipates almost instantly. Aromas of lemon and tart cherry with a bit of earth, herbal, and funky notes to it. The barrel is subtle, providing hints of vanilla and wood to mix. The flavor is a little sweeter than the aroma suggested with a moderate brown sugary flavor to it. Sweet and Sour cherry with just a hint of lemon mix with a mild earthy funk to round out the flavor. Medium body with a light level of carbonation and a sweet tart mouthfeel to it. Nice flavorful brew, but it needs a bit more time to develop a few more bubbles imho.
