Aroma is very present, though mostly wood. Base beer young and nice. Lasting small white bubbly head. Drinkable.

A solid ba barelywine. Good bourbon on the nose, but fades away on the taste. Taste instead is a solid hearty barelywine but without any defining characteristics.

22 oz. bottle, no bottled on date present. 2015 vintage. "Barrel Aged Barleywine Style Ale" My first new one from Begyle Brewing in quite a while. My first barrel-aged offering from these guys.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - It pours a milky caramel, appears a dark burnt sienna orange in the glass. It pours flat and conjures hardly any head to speak of, merely some bubbles that die out to a ring. Some mild sticky spotty lacing. Appears sticky. Second pour yields nearly a finger of bubbly khaki head that dies out again quickly. Much darker and browner in body the second time around.
S - The aroma is hot & boozy. Lots of alcohol fumes emitting from this one. Lots of wood, caramel, & toffee.
T - Not nearly as boozy as the nose implies. Tons and tons of sweetened sugary toffee, caramel, rum raisin, oak wood, vanilla, mild alcohol fumes. Extremely sweet, definitely a dessert beer.
M - The feel is silky smooth & creamy. Full-bodied with low carbonation. Not exactly what I would describe as syrupy, but definitely sugary and weighty.
Overall, a very interesting first barrel-aged barleywine from Begyle. Definitely look forward to trying more barrel-aged offerings from these guys. Keep up the good work.

Smooth as can be. Glad to see another chi town brewery master the style.
