July 16, 2015

12 oz bottle, pilsner glass

A – Medium to dark gold, quite clear, with high effervescence. Lots of bubbles rising to the top. A half inch of white foam with moderate-low retention.

S – Pale malt and a small amount of caramel creating a rich bread crust aroma. Some herbal, slightly woodsy hop aromas, along with a touch of stone fruit.

T – The pale malt is at the forefront with a bit of caramel and bread crust. Low, fruity hops with some herbal and floral notes. A minor tropical note lingers.

M – Medium body, leaning towards medium-full, with moderate carbonation. Seems like attenuation might be a bit low, as there’s some residual sweetness, countered by moderate hop bitterness. Moderately dry on the finish with some lingering sweetness.

O – I like this beer, though there’s nothing particularly memorable about it. An easy drinker with good flavor. (902 characters)

Appearance: Hazy blonde glass shows a torrent of bubble streams that feed a thin white cover.

Smell: A bit phenolic, some fruity esters, some metallic edge, wet grain, floral hops, a lot going on, some of it good.

Taste: Yeasty "beer" taste, that's to say a standard American Lager, but there is a lot of flavors competing for attention. Peach, lemon, grain, citric peel, hint of earthy hops, and all of it manages to be fairly clean.

Feel: Prickly carbonation, medium body seems heavier than it should, a bit slick in the finish.

Overall: A double Blonde? Not your typical "don't offend anyone" approach, Revolver comes out shooting. Not my style of choice, but I don't minding sipping this one.
Worth a try, and cheers to another Texas Brewery! (750 characters)

A: 3.25 - Crystal clear light color with a moderate initial head that fades very quickly to nothing.
S: 3.25 - Extremely faint scent of malt and perhaps a hint of hops, if I put my nose right up to the beer.
T: 3.5 - Malt is clean and slightly sweet (and not grainy) with a moderate bitterness. No yeast flavor to speak of. Well-attenuated, with a medium-dry finish.
M: 3.75 - Neutral texture, nicely carbonated
O: 3.5 - One very boring beer, though there are no real faults. If you want an inoffensive and yet not bad ale, this is a good choice.

On tap at the Common Table in Dallas. The beer pours a yellow-gold color with a white head. The aroma is full of grain with some lemon notes. The flavor is similar, with some grain and toffee character, as well as some citrus notes - mainly lemons and oranges. Low to no bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. (323 characters)
