A: Dark, opaque, deep chocolate brown to near black with mild to moderate tan head
S: Coffee, toasty, bittersweet chocolate
T: Lots of coffee, a bit of malty sweetness, as well as faint dark chocolate and a hint of caramel. Very tasty.
M: Very complex, yet comfortable. Engages the whole mouth with its combination of flavors and rich, viscous feel
O: Definitely one of my favorites from Revolver, and hopefully an indication of more amazing beers to come.

Looks great as a dark beer. Smells like a Baltic Porter. Taste misses the mark. Needs the molasses sweetness I think. It's got a good mouthful but overall not a brew I really enjoy.¹

Fully roasted and bitter coffee stout that drinks like a cold-brew coffee.
A tad too agressive and so not terribly drinkable, but soon it turns into a one-note brew that made me lose interest.

This is phenomenal. Pours a "3 o'clock in the morning" pitch black with a dark tan head. The aromas are rich, roasty dark chocolate, and the flavors follow the aromas and mix in stone fruit flavors as well.
Just an exceptionally well-executed American Stout.

First review in over 3 years!
Taste: Its a stout.. It'll be bitter, but definitely one to try. Roasty, coffeeish taste
Feel: Thick, and goes down pretty smooth
Look: Black body, dark tan head. Darkest I've seen in a stout.
Overall: Not a beginners stout. Strong and bitter, but again roasty and coffeeish. The colder the better, and it'll have you feeling good after a couple. Too thick for summer/ spring in my opinion, but great for the winter. I would have again.

Poured at 45°F from a 12oz bottle (bottled on 30Oct15) into a Spiegelau Stout glass. Consumed on 07May16.
LOOK: Four fingers worth of dense, cinnamon colored foam forms after the initial pour. Within less than five seconds, the head changes color to khaki. At 3 minutes, the gargantuan foam top has only lost a fingers worth of foam. There is a high quantity of small rising bubbles. Black in color with an orange luster.
SMELL: Very strong aromas of sweet chocolate instantly catch my attention. Never before have I smelt such a chocolate forward beer. Mild aromas of sweetened coffee and vanilla along with hints of floral hops and bitter roasted malts bring balance to this overall sweet aroma.
TASTE: Strong sweet chocolate and bitter roasted malt flavors first strike the palate and promptly create a balanced first sip. Mild flavors of sweet coffee and and subtle vanilla flavors immediately find their way on to the taste buds as sweet chocolate flavors grow slightly stronger. Mild flavors of floral hops finish off the taste as all previous flavors press on, except for bitter roasted malts, which thankfully fade to mild.
FEEL: Very full-bodied with hints of carbonation. This goes down ridiculously smooth and creamy. Due to the high levels of bitterness, the brew ends with a highly dry and unpleasant finish.
NOTE: Never before have I had a "normal" Stout that tasted so good! This wasn't barrel-aged nor did it have coffee thrown in, it was just a good ol' American Stout. With that being said, I thought the bitterness stole some of the enjoyment in this. The aroma barely had any, but the taste surprises you with a punch in the taste buds. What I did love about the misleading aroma, however, was that the hop profile was much bigger in the taste. Who doesn't love a mildy hoppy Stout?
