Had on tap at Golden Retriever pub in Magnolia, Texas, served in a pint glass.
The beer was poured with a white head of about a finger thickness. It was a fairly transparent reddish brown. Esthetically, not much to write home about. On the nose, it's really straightforward for a red- a little malty, some grapefruity hops, nothing big or overpowering. Tastewise, it follows the nose. Up front, it's quite astringent and acidic from the hops, though not overly so. The grapefruit is fairly present here. It sweetens up and mellows out after that initial taste. It's a little overcarbonated in my opinion and only exacerbates the astringency Issues. Overall it's a nice beer, certainly drinkable, though not much to write home about.
