Sometimes when you push the beer, the beer will push back. Using the balance and maltiness that's unique to British brewing, the rich toffee and caramel base keeps the hops in check. And with the enormity of double digit alcohol content, the chemistry of the beer begins to take on a life of its own.

Deep amber and slightly of haze, the imperial IPA pours with a creamy off-white head floating above. As its hoppy bouquet gathers steam, its citrus, tropical and orchard medley is woven in a cocoon of butterscotch and toffee. And that sweet and buttery taste greets the palate with a savory, succulent and savory toasted grain flavor.

Bread crust, biscuit, cashew and peanut brittle begin to frame flavors to steer the session in a malt-centric direction. but the rise of hops rival the malt with a bright orange, apricot and mango influence to suggest honey and marmalade. Toasted granola and butter pecan remain firm before a barkish bitterness of pine, stem and leaf carry a spicy bite to shift final flavors in favor of the hops.

Likely a better balanced beer than hop-heads prefer, the malty balance also means the beer carries a fuller, slicker and richer body that works against the dryness and the more vivid display of hops. Finishing with pine resins and a spicy acetone heat, the ale trails with marmalade and butterscotch once again.

I have heard a lot about Hoof Hearted so I was looking forward to trying this when I saw it on draft at Fat Heads in N. Olmsted, OH.

Deep orange, clear color with a soft head that disapates quickly. Great sticky lacing left around the glass.

Smell is straight up tangelo. Sweet oranges to the max. Some caramel and butterscotch.

Wow-this is a flavorful, well balanced brew. On the sweeter side but in a good way. Way to drinkable. Hop candy in a glass. Sweet orange with a touch of bitterness. Virtually no booze. Very nice.

Mouthfeel is awesome. Again, very drinkable. Goes down easy and leaves you wanting more.

Very impressed by this beer. I can't wait to try others from this brewer. It's a great time for beer lovers in Ohio. Highly recommended.

Maybe I had a bad can. I get the pine and some of the tropical elements, but I got a big malty sweetness, especially on the nose and the finish. I'm basically with the other reviews except for the nose and the finish (yes, that's a lot of it). I'll probably try to get this one more time. On top of all the other reviews, I just find it... sweet in a unique way.

pours a hazy but not completely opaque golden orange. smells like a boozy fruit bomb. Not as tropical but its 10% so the booze sweetness is there. Still a great beer with a very good mouthfeel

Very citrusy, light on the booze DIPA that really packs a punch you're not expecting. Dank, resiny aroma. Basically exactly what I want in a DIPA, hoping they can maintain this type of consistency with future batches.

Slightly cloudy amber with eggshell head. Dank, piney and citrus hop on the nose balanced by sugary malt. Nice balance but not assertive like the best dipa's. Taste follows nose in the beginning giving way to an almost meaty aged steak flavor with citrus on the backend. Mouthfeel is crazy smooth with a bit of bitterness at the end. Overall a very well balanced and highly enjoyable DIPA. Could benefit from more assertive nose but would definitely seek out again.

Absolutely astonishing beer. Pours the color of the inside of Marsellus' briefcase in Pulp Fiction. Kills it flavor wise, like bathing in liquid gold. Perfect amount of bitterness, dangerously drinkable (think those old chester cheetos commercials). Will seek this one out again!

Canned and drank on Sunday the 20th! Talk about fresh.

Poured a cloudy deep orange. Love the unfiltered look.

Aroma is MASSIVE dank, sticky, resin and pine with a hint of citrus.

Taste follows the same thing! Can't imagine how many pounds of hops they used for this one. Dank, sticky, pine, resin, orange and grapefruit on the back with a slightly juicy quality. One of the dankest tastings beers I've ever had.

Hides the alcohol very well and is easy to drink, TOO easy to drink.

I can see the hype behind these guys!

Poured a hazy orange, with only a smattering of foam. It's got some staying power though. A blast of tropical fruit hides the fact that this thing is 10%. It's easy to down the whole deal before you realize whats happening.

Canned September 20, 2015. This is a sticky, dank beer. I get lots of orange and tangerine - the malt is fairly heavy, I would not call this a west coast style double. Hoofhearted is putting out some amazing stuff.

Slightly hazy orange color, thick white lingering head with good lacing. Smell is juicy and tropical, orange coming through nicely. Really juicy tropical flavors with nice hop bitterness and light malt backbone, well balanced. Wouldn't know it was 10% abv, drinks really easily. Very smooth light-medium carbonation. Really like this one a lot

Orange gold color that poured a great thick frothy head, especially given the abv. Good lacing. Notes of orange and other citrus. Vibrant hops with the malt tucked away in the back. Can't believe this is a 10%. Citrus hops and a more noticeable maltiness. Light medium carbonation but just feels juicy. These guys make great IPAs.

Had a draft at the new Hoof Hearted Taproom in Marengo. A big IPA at 10.2%, but not a big alcohol taste. I love it with a meal, but it can overwhelm a little by itself. I have also had it in their new 16 oz can.

5 oz draft pour.

Reminded me a bit of Bodhi in flavors. A much bigger (stronger and fuller) beer though. Lots of tropical fruit and pine with a solid malt base that really smooths out the bitterness and the feel. There is just something I didn't care for lingering in the aftertaste that kept me from putting this in the same class, along with Hop Ju Ju, and El Lupulo Libre.

Complex beer that hides the alcohol completely, smooth, funk, bright, integrated sweetness, lingering favors, amazing finish. The color oh this is hazy yellow-gold-that perfect straw-gold color. The nose is amazingly refreshing with the notes of fruit, funk and brightness. Outstanding!

1 PINT can
Served in tulip glass

This beer pours amber in color with golden highlights. It is topped with three inches of creamy white head that leaves plenty of lacing.

The aroma is citrus, featuring grapefruit, with a healthy dose of malt.

The taste has lots of citrus flavors with alcohol and some malt.

Surprisingly, creamy and smooth.

I wanted to like this beer more than I did. I am hoping I will love it on tap since the taproom with be a half hour away. It had more malt in the flavor than I would have expected. It was good, but I have had few Hoof Hearted beers and loved Wangbar. If nothing else a four pack will kick you ass!

Fantastic tropical/citrusy DIPA with some hefty booziness as it warms. It's overall a finely crafted imperial that I would stack up against the best across the country. Ohio hops are supremely underrated - add this to the mix with Hop JuJu, White Rajah, Head Hunter, Bodhi, etc. that showcase the West Coast style and are bursting with tropical hop flavors.

Canned within the past 2 weeks
The beer pours a clear golden yellow and is topped by a few fingers of fluffy white head that laces. However, the label art has much room for improvement (...drawn at about my own personal skill level...). The nose is ripe with tropical fruits and has a west coast-like malty sweetness that closely follows. I'm most impressed by the fact that this beer has no detectable alcohol in the nose, yet boasts a 10.2% abv. Similarly, the taste is pungent citrus and bready sweetness, followed by a lingering (but never unpleasant or overly-bitter) sugar coated grapefruit in the finish. It's a big DIPA that has a rich malt backbone, one which stacks up well against an overwhelming hop presence. Furthermore, this beast has incredible drinkability as a result of its superb balance, foamy carbonation, and a not so overly sweet finish. This beer is the real deal and totally worth the $13/4 pint price tag.

This brewery has churned out some impressive beers during its short existence, and this one is no exception. I would put this beer up against the best Vermont has to offer; nothing in Ohio compares. It has officially replaced Bodhi as the #1 DIPA out of the state of Ohio in my humble opinion.

16oz can poured into a Teku glass
A: Dark orange with a not quite one-finger head
S: Layers of hops. All sorts of citrus, some bread dough, tropical fruit, a bit of pine and toasted malt
T: Again lots of citrus, a bit of sweet bread, some mango with pine on the finish
M: Full-bodied, a bit sweet, a bit bitter
O: A mighty fine DIPA that hides its abv well. My only wish is that it were a touch less sweet but still very enjoyable

Pleasantly surprised by this one ,
Nice citrus , well balanced between the hops and malt
Slight sweetness but doesn't distract from the hops just
Compliments them .. The high abv is well hidden and
it goes down pretty easy. Nice job on this beer Hoof Hearted .

Look - Bright, golden orange. Head is almost white. Not too much. Good lacing.

Smell - There is more bread than a normal DIPA. It is actually pleasing and the taste is still there.

Taste - Classic dank double IPA. Citrus finish.

Feel - Plump and smooth. Doesn't explode too much with the swallow.

Overall - Great IPA from Hoof Hearted. Just because it isn't the dankest, doesn't mean it isn't good.

From a tap into a pint glass. Very little head that dissipated quickly. Nice orange golden color. Surprised by how little nose this beer has (especially after tasting it). Incredibly smooth given the ABV. Not boozy at all. Very well balanced. Caramel is the first flavor that hits the palette then an awesome mix of hops and malt. The finish is velvety and smooth with small amounts of citrus. I really like this beer. I can't believe it's 10.9%! Be careful!
