My non-german, non-BA boss and I visited the Rathskellar during our recent trip to Indy. We were both thoroughly impressed. The Rathskellar offers a top-notch a beer and food experience.
The half timber ceiling, German decor, and white table cloths combine to offer a high class ambience. The Ratheskellar is date worthy, business appropriate, and books functions.
The food, which ranges from traditional German to continental/American fusion is excellent and presented well. My boss is Greek, and wasn't too excited about German food but found that the salmon was excellent, and enjoyed a taste of my schnitzel.
The beer list is comprehensive, but not infinite. They don't offer local beer, but instead focus on German classics and European favorites. I haven't run the numbers, but I can't imagine that anything on their list scores lower than 3.9 on BA.
The food is $15-20 ish, and the bottle prices seemed high (and I drink in Boston).
