A - dark brown with a finger and a half of off white head
S - fruity, woody, green apple, milk chocolate
T - a slightly malty stout starts on the front of the tongue with lots of chocolate. I quickly detect large amounts of green apple notes, which to me seem to come from unseasoned wood rather than brewing faults. The bourbon is very faint and hard to pick up. Underwhelming but not bad.
M - good body. Supports the flavors without being overly sweet or overly dry. I would say the mouthfeel is the best thing about this beer.
D - low for me. The green apple wood profile is too intruding, especially as it warms.
Overall, an ok beer that falls well short of the brewers hype. It's close to being a good beer, and I applaud them for making strives to better beer. The green apple flavors, which appear to be wood induces, ruin this beer for me.
Serving type: on-tap
