On tap at the Genesee Brew House in Rochester, NY.

Pours a clear light amber, with a one inch head, some rings of lacing down the glass.

Sweet malt and grain in the aroma, with some grassy hops.

Nice flavor this one- light and subtle, while still being quite flavorful. Some sweet corn flavors, not distateful, with a little bit of spicy hop bitterness. Good mix between sweet and bitter flavors.

Light to medium bodied, crisp mouthfeel, goes down very smooth.

Not the most complex beer ever, but still very nice, and very tasty.

Poured a a golden straw color, clear with a fairly frothy 1" head, moderate staying power with some lacing.

A malty baked bread aroma, slightly sweet. A hint of floral hops.

Again a generally malt flavor, semi-sweet, some carmel is hinted at, but its not cloying. Hopped enough to give good balance and improve its overall feel. Nice clean finish.

Pours golden with a sizeable white head that descends to a slowly fading patch.

The smell is of grain with a touch of honey. Light caramel in the back, along with some pepper.

The taste is of sweet grain, a touch of peppery alcohol. A touch of metallic. A touch of caramel and a honey sweetness in the finish.

A bit too sweet and a pretty weak body - well - it does reach medium body, but has little depth - for abv lets a bit too much of pepper come through. Overall, not bad though - just mediocre, that's all.

Suprisingly saw this on tap at Donnely's Public house in fairport(get it while you can). The bartender didn't really know what it was but i guess it is a test or something. Anyways i loved it. It is certainly pale as it pours a really light gold. The taste is sorta sweet but I think the hops are more dominant. Perfect amount of alcohol. Interesting brew, hopefully we will see it in the stores soon.

Didn't even know High Falls had this one in the works. I was told that it was probably a seasonal brew, and wasn't readily available anywhere. Given the relative success of the recent JW Dundee lineup, I just couldn't resist ordering a pint.
I must admit that while I've had plenty of experience with Doppelbocks, I'd only had two other regular "Bocks" at that point, and neither were anything to write home about. This beer was very clean, in appearance, smell, flavor and aftertaste. Seemed to be a safe play for High Falls, testing the water perhaps. Kudos for tackling a relatively obscure style.
This beer was quite pleasing and almost goes down like a session brew. Malt dominated the flavor profile, with a hint of lingering alcohol.
All in all it's a satisfying brew.

Pours a light gold color. White fuzzy head retains decently well. Aroma of sweet malts and a distant bready note. In the taste, sweet malt and honey like notes. Reminiscent of a blonde, stronger honey brown lager. Medium bodied, well carbonated brew. Overall, not a bad golden bock here. Quite drinkable.

Crystal clear golden body topped with a fizzy yet persistent white head. Bright, light malt aroma; a hint of spiciness. Light and soft mouthfeel with a light, bready malt flavor. Crisp, clean, and dry finish.

A light and delicate bock with emphasis on the malt flavors. Mostly light bread/biscuit flavors with a barely perceptible hop presence in the nose. Hops do peak out near the finish. Doesn't seem to meet the maibock description as far as hop presence goes, but still easily drinkable and pleasant.

A- pours clear and golden with a thin white fizzy head, leaving just a bit if lace behind

S- sweet and toasty malts with some grainy notes, a bit of sweet honey at the end

T- flavors follow aroma, sweet grainy flavors with a honey-like sweetness, semi dry finish with a bit of toasted malt to finish

M- medium body and carbonation leads to fizzy and foamy mouthfeel with a smooth finish, very drinkable

O- this isn't bad, just very bland for my taste. I did however like the malty sweetness

A: poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass, pours a yellow amber color with a short white head that dissipates quickly leaving little lacing, clear

S: clover honey, sweet pale malt, slight caramel, slight fruity twang

T: sweet malt up front with a slightly sour flavor mid palate, flavors of honey and cereal grains, finish is sweet and lingers

M: medium to full bodied, slight alcohol presence, leaves a good coating, lower carbonation

O: has an excellent sweet malty flavor but lacks in other areas, good domestic example of the style

12 oz undated bottle poured a golden-amber. Small white head has decent retention.

The aroma [2.75] is a mix of sweet malt, spicy hops and, unfortunately, a whiff of wet dog.
The slightly boosted ABV is all too obvious in the flavor. Both the flavor and the aroma improved with some warming.

O: an average quality lager, albeit with more flavor and alcohol.

Into a nonic (also had in a pilsener, nothing changed):

A: transparent yet golden yellow body leaving a foamy one finger head. It leaves a good spider web lacing. The head lasts about a minute, no carbonation is seen rising

S: mostly bland, but after a while as it warms, there is some nuttiness going on.

T: based around the malts with some slight caramel notes and some spiciness and hops going on.

M: light to medium, slightly watery, sessionable

O: not a bad beer, I think I might have this again.

pokal.

a - pours a transparent, deep golden shade and formed a finger thick, coarse, white, sudsy head that dissipated fast.

s - nutty, faint plum or maybe red grape.

t - nutty malt character with carmel notes and a faint spiciness. no discernible hop character but a light bitterness is noticeable on the back of the tongue.

m - on the fuller side of medium with adequate carbonation. coarser co2 profile.

o - decent beer but very malt forward and missing some key style elements, mainly the hops and noticeable alcohol content. totally worth the $.91 i paid for it.

Poured into 9oz pilsener glass. Poured a, yup, pale, clean, clear light gold color with 1/2 inch of white head that had good retention and light lacing.

The aroma was mostly neutral, although some some grain and a hint of alcohol did peek through, along with an overall sweet scent. The flavors were the same, bland and neutral, with some alcohol burn happening.

The body was OK, full and smooth, not heavy, but a bit sticky. Drinkability was OK, the stickiness and alcohol taste were a bit off-putting. Overall, an average example, not great, not terrible. Try it or don't.

Part 1/4 of the Dundee Spring/Summer Varietal mix. The Dundee Pale Bock Lager is a Helles Bock/Maibock style. As per the label: "Monks brewed bock for times of fasting during the darkest depths of winter. Then, the arrival of bucks was seen as a sign of better times to come. Today, when self-denial means stopping at one plate of cheese fries, bocks are less for the body and more for the soul, with the power to banish winter-even if it's only the winter of your discontent. Enjoy a Pale Bock and rest assured that better times are coming."

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a pint glass. Served at

(Appearance) Pours a thin frothy off-white head with an average retention. Surface cover is thin and spotty, and lacing is barely there. Body color is a bright golden-amber, very thoroughly filtered, crystal clear. Carbonation is abundant and energetic. Overall a decent appearance, although naturally lacking in head quality, it appears an average beer. 3

(Smell) Light caramel malt, a bit of honey malt, some mildly bitter grassy hops and a small waft of alcohol. Smell is overall crisp and mildly sweet. It has more dimension than the average Dundee beer. Potency is medium. Not a bad aroma. 3.5

(Taste) Tastes much like the aroma predicts, although with a bit more sweetness, it has balance. A mildly sweet caramel bread front segues into a very subtle bitter resiny hop and alcohol finish. Overall it drinks crisp but full and finishes mostly clean with a high sweet honey cereal malt note as a remaining final impression, a dominating flavor throughout the drink. Drinkability is still quite high despite having a slightly higher ABV than the average beer or bock. Overall, its quite an enjoyable drink. 3.5

(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick with a very mild crispness and a resiny sweet finish. Alcohol presence is low. Body is light. Mouthfeel brings a nice pairing with the beer, accenting the subtleties of the hops, although with a bit more crisp carbonation, the sweetness could be alleviated and the hops given a bit more dimension. 3.5

(Overall) I found the Dundee Pale Bock Lager to be a decent concoction with its subtle flaws. A lasting striking sweet finish is going to be mildly cloying to some and the head quality is, as usual, lacking. However, the positives outweigh the negatives in this beer, making it a noble option for a very affordable go-to Helles Bock. Therefore, I'm likely to recommend this beer as a suitable option should that be your style of choice. 3.5

Poured into a balloon glass. The beer is the most beautiful of golden colors, a clear pure bright apple juice hue. A fizzy white head recedes to a wisp of random chunks and odd shaped chunks of lacing stick to the glass. The beer smells bright, malty, and a bit sweet tart like apples. Taste is excellent as crisp apples pave the way for mellow malt sweetness. There's a tart finish that goes well with the other flavors. Mouthfeel is crisp, clean, and dry.

Overall, another pleaser from the Dundee mixed 12 pack. Clean, refreshing, and delicious. Can't ask for much more.

A- Pours a pretty clear light gold color with a fairly thin white head. Head has little retention and leaves a bit of lacing here and there.

S- Smell is pretty light. Quite a bit of malts, sweet and bready. A good amount of hops here too.

T- Malts leading the way here with a good amount of hops balancing things out. Hops are grassy and a bit of lemon.

M- Fairly light in body and a good amount of carbonation.

O- I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

A very nice clear, light amber color. A very good sized, white, almost creamy looking head. Great head retention and a nice thick foam lacing.

A wonderful biscuit aroma along with spicy and earthy hops. This smells excellent.

Medium bodied, very smooth and slightly dry. Some nice biscuit and toast that is balanced out by a peppery spice flavor that works very well with the crisp semi-dry mouthfeel. A good execution of the style and a refreshing beer.

A: Just slightly peachy golden, bright and clear with a few random bubbles rsing to small white head that settles fast to an okay ring, but leaves minimal lacing.

S: Light malt sweetness, hint of bread crust, Munich character. Hint of floral & spicy hops. Clean, sweet lager scent. I would like more aroma for style, but alright for a lager.

T: Malts are crakery / bready with some toasty grain & just a bit bready. Crusty bock notes at the edges. Sweetness is there, but fairly restrained. Fairly dry malts overall. Balancing hops – nice background bitterness from Magnum with Saaz providing some spicy & herbal notes. Soft hint of perfumey, pleasant alcohol, and the barest hint of yeast character.

M: Body is just medium in feel, maybe a slight hair over. Seems a tad light for the style and heft. Balanced carbonation is very finely textured. Smooth with some texture and chew, but largely drying overall.

D: A nice balanced lager. Nothing bold or complex, but tasty enough. Very approachable & carries its abv extremely well. It seems more like a 5% beer. Way nicer than the usual macro swill & excellent for the price point.

A- A light brown color with a good sized foamy head and lace rings.

S- very malty, not much else. The malt is carmel and slightly fruity.

T- I'd like more hops here because this is all malt. Still, it's bready and carmely, not horrible.

O- this beer is cheap, which makes it a decent bargain. Still, nothing special at all.

12 oz bottle as part of a Dundee sampler 12 pack...decent light brown color. Fairly well balanced to the hop tilt in the nose...good for the style. Taste is respectable, clean, light but malty. Could improve on the yeast character, which is very light. I've noticed in general about Dundee's German style beers that they are clean and drinkable but don't have much delicious yeast funk. Mouthfeel is clean. Overall decent and the 12 pack was only $10, so it was very reasonable.

The head on this beer was 1 and a half fingers thick in a glass mug. It left long wide strands of lacing. There was a moderate amount of carbonation. The color was amber. I could read the label on the beer through the full mug. It had a nicely ballanced hoppy and malty smell. The mouth feel was somewhat creamy with a sticky afterfeel. There was a slightly sour aftertaste.

Served in a Chicago Bears shaker pint glass.

Yup, another gift from my brother. This one pours a clear jaundiced canary topped by a finger of white foam. The nose comprises dusty biscuit, light toffee, light orange zest, mild flowers, and grass. The taste picks up the fruit baton and bolts, emphasizing the erstwhile mousy orange and adding some light lemon zest, light melon, and a heaping helping of banana. There's also a decent amount of caramel, lightly buttered biscuits, light black pepper, and even a pinch of clove. It's all a bit much all of a sudden, and it all sorta disappears at the end, but it's not at all bad. The body is a rather light medium, with a moderate carbonation and a nearly drying finish. Overall, not a bad helles bock by any stretch. I'll admit, I'm a bit surprised by it, as it's nothing special to look at and keeps some shady company, but I'll never turn down a beer like this.
