Dundee India Pale Ale (IPA) 6pk bottles $6.99(OH)

12 oz brown bottle poured into a white wine glass. No freshness date, just bottling codes you will have to look up.

pours a nice clear amber color. two finger peach-white head that lasts a good time. followed by decent lacing hugging the inside of the glass.

The aroma is rather light/subtle for an IPA, however it's a budget price. A light hoppy, floral citrus smell. With a slight hint of pine.

The taste is subtle too. Subtle grapefruit and citrus notes, followed by a hoppy floral taste. finishes with a touch of pine, bold and bitter. Not bad but could be better, but for the price cant complain at all.

mouth feel is light to medium body. Has a light citrus sting that sticks around. It is bitter which is true to style. However it's over carbonated with is not true to IPA style. Unlike most IPA's that I have had.

Overall a Good budget IPA. Not an IPA to shout about. I have had way better, but the price is right and cheap. Found this at my local wally world, never seen anything from dundee in my area except for their geneese brand and honey brown. Not a blow you away IPA but a Great budget buy for a brew that is easy to drink and nice ABV too.

Develops a nice head upon pouring which dissaptes quickly leaving a thin layer of foam. The beer is a clear amber color.

Smells lightly hoppy, and not a whole lot else.

Tastes hoppy and a little sweet. Not too bitter. Slight metallic aftertaste.

Smooth and light, with a little bite.

This is a very light IPA, without a whole lot of character. Very easy drinking, though. I bought this as part of a sampler pack, mostly because it was pretty cheap. Its a decent beer for the price, but not too exciting.

Purchashed from Wegmans on Taft Road in Liverpool, NY. Very reasonable price. I have been spending alot of money on craft beer lately and have been looking to cut back. This beer came in a seasonal 12 pack. The beer is not nearly as bitter as I would like my ideal ipa to be but it is a good combination of malt and hops. I drank the beer at room temperature. If you are looking to cut back on cost yet you still want to enjoy a nice craft brew don't pick up a bland american adjunct give dundee a try you may be pleasently surprised.

Overal this is a pretty average IPA. It has a clear amber colour with a average head retention and good lacing. It produces a slight grapefruit and pine aroma. Fairly bitter in tastes with very subtle traces of malt. It's a medium bodied beer with a nice lingering aftertaste. The most appealing aspect of this beer however is it's the cheapest, highest ABV IPA I can find in my area. Though it may be an average IPA, dollar for value makes this a very decent IPA.

Big long lasting off white head covers a hazy golden amber colored beer.

Light citrus style hops aroma with some honey accents.

More of the light citrus style hops in the taste drowns out anything else that might want you to take notice.

Light bittering on a dry aftertaste with just a bit of the hops tastes remaining behind with this medium bodied beer.

I like the light bittering and dryish aftertaste on this IPA.

A- shiny coppery gold with amazing clarity and a long lasting white head that leaves perfect lacing.

S- hop candy, orange marmalade, and, as strange as it sounds, a tiny touch of caramelized onions. Smells very good, the onion smell seems like a mix of the malt and hops.

T- similar to the smell this is a hoppy citrus bomb. Orange candy, marmalade, and plenty of sweetness without any discernible malt flavors. Finishes fairly bitter and piney though not overly strong for the style. Could use a touch more malt character.

M- moderate carbonation and body, could be a bit bubblier.

O- definitely the best I've had in this Dundee line of beers. Beautiful to look at and with just enough of a "what's that?" Factor to keep me interested. Not the greatest IPA out there but plenty bitter and hard to beat for the price.

I know this Ale comes from an "Adjunct" beer distributer but the taste is clean, crisp and matched Ale's that are much more Trendy and Pricey....
When you've a hankerin' for a Clean IPA that isn't pretentious, snooty, or self-absorbed... I Highly recommend this entry!!! Well done and God Speed..

Pours a copper color with a ring of foam. Aroma of hoppy citrus and a bit of caramel. In the taste, bitter hops, herb and citrus. Medium bodied, decently carbonated feel with medium carbonation though thin. Overall, this is a below average IPA, but it will do in a pitch.

Wegmans in Ithaca had this selling for seven dollars a six-pack, and it's brewed in Rochester, so I had to try it. Poured into a pint glass, the bottle raised a fine creamy off-white head that persisted many minutes and laced the glass all the way down. Color an orange SRM 8 with light haze. Not much hops in the aroma: mostly bready malt and yeast smells there, but the bitter hops hit gently right away and coat the palate the way I like it. Mouthfeel is really great: crisp, yet a bit unctuous, leaving a hoppy aftertaste as if your tongue-hide had been gently tanned. I always have a hard time leaving the cost out of my tasting notes, and for sure the hopping in this Rochester IPA is not as elegant or complicated as it is in my favorite IPAs, but this is for sure one mighty excellent great deal for the money. If anybody knows of an IPA this good for $7 per sixpack, please let me know where to get it! I'm drinking my second bottle now with Buffalo Wing-flavored cheddar cheese curds and Snyder's beer pretzels. Yum!

I was hoping for a bitter taste from this brew. It does have a great taste and smell. As I read the other reviews I would also agree that it is a good summer IPA.

I am new to reviewing brews and just recently, like the past year, really started to love IPAs.

I would rank this above the Sam Adams IPA.

Overall, I would say its refreshing for an IPA and I would have it again.

Much has been said about summer beers, and the seasonal popularity of American Adjunct Lagers. I humbly submit that Dundee IPA is a great summer beer alternative.

I chose not to compare it to the myriad of quality IPA's out there, but purely on it's own merit as a refreshing beer.

It poured a satisfying color and laced nicely (my glasses are washed in hot water and elbow grease) when I poured it, but I drink this one out of the bottle.

Dundee IPA is bitter, thin and refreshing. Exactly what I'm looking for in a summertime beer. And I might add that I appreciate the fact that it's 6.3% ABV. This is the lowest cost, highest ABV, palatable & refreshing IPA I've ever found in my neck of the woods.

In conclusion, Dundee's IPA is just this and no more: bitter and refreshing. Twist the cap and enjoy the summer afternoon or evening.

Poured into becker pint glass (from a twist-off bottle...shows what audience they're catering to); clear golden orange with a minimal white head that fades to a ring of foam almost instantly. Smell is toasted cereal malts, almost no hop smell present. Not a good start to an IPA...let's press on. Taste is just as weak as the smell; thin cereal grains are the malt flavor which dominates, no hop flavor at all except for a mild bitterness which is nearly pushed aside in the aftertaste by a corn-like flavor. Lacing is pretty nice...but otherwise this is a mess of a beer. Genessee should stick to the tasteless light lagers they know, because they are way out of their depth with any more respectable style.

Bought as part of Dundee's Ales & Lagers Seasonal Pack from Southtown Beverage on 4/26/13. Case price was $ 17.99.

poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Served at cool Temp.

appearance: light amber with a three finger white head. excellent lacing.

aroma: citrus with some floral notes, some wintergreen also.

mouthfeel: thinnish..

taste: a malty IPA with some diacetyl. Candied orange, candied ginger, some mint.

notes: again, Dundee puts forward a decent beer that is not a generic clone of others in the style. I actually liked this one.

Drank from the bottle. Not a bad IPA by any stretch but not a great one either. I essentially bought it because it had a funny name and I like an IPA so I guess I can't complain too much. Worth a drink, but that's about all it's worth.

The bottle says it is bitter and it is. Not particularly bitter, but I'll let it slide because bitter was all I tasted. I still have a couple left so maybe I'll try drinking ti from a glass and see if results differ.

12-oz bottle into Samuel Smith "Tulip" pint glass

A - 2-fingers khaki head over a clear/slightly-hazy amber body; a few carbonation bubbles

S - citrus, herbal hops; kind of weak

T - grapefruit, touch of pine, malt backbone somewhere in there gives off bready notes with a hint of burnt flavor, peppery spice, alcohol warmth; dry, grapefruity finish

M - thick medium/full body, high carbonation

O - just a decent ipa

Poured into a pint glass.

Pours an burnt orange brew with a thick chunky white head. Lots of great lace and great head retention. A very good looking brew.

Brew smells of grapefruit hops and some bready malts. Good hop profile.

Brew is a solid; not the hoppiest IPA by any stretch, but good solid flavors and mouthfeel are represented. Solid grapefruit and almost a burnt malt. Good feel and passive drinkable finish. A entry level solid IPA. Good.

Good brew from the Dundee line. A solid brew.

A: pours a darker golden yellow color, clear, with a short white head with minimal lacing.

S: hops predominate, wheat, bread, barley, sort of faint aroma

T: basically wheat and grains with a tinge of hops, bit lacking, dull

M: kind of over carbonated, carbonation is out of proportion with the flavor

O: not horrible, could better. would have it again due to it's cheapness and drinkability but its just a run of the mill beer

Got a single of this in a mixer sixer.

Not bad looking, coppery and clear with a decent head and some lacing.

Nose is kinda weak. A little hops and some maltiness but not terribly impressive.

Taste is somewhat hoppy but indistinctly so. It doesn't have the bomb characteristics I've come to expect from IPAs. It's just kinda weak on flavor, although pretty high on bitterness. The malt backbone is indistinct, though some caramel does come through.

Body is well carbonated and crisp, pretty easy to drink despite my feelings on the taste.

Overall it's drinkable but I'm not impressed enough to want a whole six pack of it.

Poured cold from the bottle.

This beer poured a nice, amber colour, typical of IPAs, with virtually no head, also typical of most IPAs. Subtle hop nose with a slight citrus scent. The taste is not as up-front with the hop bitterness, like most IPAs, but has a great citrus-hop flavour. Very balanced and very enjoyable because of the focus on flavour over bitterness. There is a faint peach/mango/tangerine flavour to it that is quite enjoyable.

Would I buy it again? Yes. Unlike the rest of the beers that Dundee makes, this one I would buy again.

Pours dark amber with a fading white head.
Nose shows caramel and soft spicy and floral hops. Faint but nice.
Sweet clean malt is the main flavour. Also some resinous hops. Pretty gentle bitterness.
Needs more carbonation.

more of summer ipa to me. this one pours clear light amber in color with an inch of white head that dies down quickly. this is a bitter ipa, and the nose tells you that straight away. lots of hops, a simple bill of american barley and english caramel malts, and some delicate floral aroma that is also present in the dundee pale ale. the flavor is bitter hops all the way through, not offensively bitter, but very brisk and assertive. i usually think dundee beers are good transition beers for people not usually inclined to drink craft, they are all rather approachable, but this ipa i think is beyond that level. its well balanced, but it really highlights how bitter the hop can be, and as such may not be the most appealing brew to craft newcomers. it does finish clean and crisp, which makes it pretty sessionable, and they mouthfeel is pretty good. very tingly carbonation on the tongue and the body is just barely medium, not heavy or light. a decent ipa overall, but id like it better with more fruity or piney notes to the hop complexion, its just a bitter bomb.

Poured from a 12 oz twistoff bottle into a unibroue tulip.

A - A rigorous pour yields a pretty weak fizzy head that dissipates quickly. There are a few spots leftover in the very thin disk that remains. Color is dark amber which is slightly cloudy. Lacing is slight but not great.

S - Don't really get anything on the nose of this one. Just faint hops and amber malt.

T - Not as bad as I expected. It actually has some pretty strong flavors despite its lack of smell. It is nice and sweet up front from the amber malt but then there is a pungent bitterness which brings no flavor with it. Its as if the alpha acid is put in as an additive to this beer rather than boiling with hops.

M - A little too heavy on the carbonation but pretty crisp considering the lighter body.

O - Not one I would reach for again - especially when put up in the same category as SN Torpedo.

A: pours a light orange/peach color, with a nice 2 fingers worth of cream white head formation with very nice lacing.

S: strong piney hops, slight orange peel and lemon zest aroma compliment the hops but they are mild at best. not really getting much else in the nose here

T: plain and basic. has a slight malt backbone that holds orange peel and piney hop bitterness. slightl bready/biscuit notes are also picked up.

M: on the lighter side of medium, nice carbonation and decent bitter after taste that is left on the palate.

O: not much to really talk about here. this is as basic off an IPA as you can get, but with that being said, it is quite drinkable and pretty well balanced.

In the glass a moderate amber with a 1-finger head and good lacing.

A citrus-piney aroma with a hint of grain.

The well-balanced taste started with slightly sweet caramel moved to malted grains and finished with the hops aspect that was less bitter than I expected.

A crisp, medium body beer feel with some carbonation and no excess alcohol overtones.

I could drink more than one of these at a setting.

For an IPA the bitterness is adequately balanced out by the caramel overtones. I thought it could use a little more carbonation. Overall I enjoyed this beer more than what I thought I would considering the price and where it came from.

absolutely the worst beer ever. So bitter that bitter beer face doesn't describe it. So nasty it doesn't even deserve to be called beer. Maybe it is the green label on the label that makes it so unappealing. However this brewery does have one good quality. Honey Brown. The total opposite of India Pale.

not a bad beer this one took awhile to get the flavor to speak to me.
