Pours a bright and clear golden amber with a thin, almost white head. Has a grassy smell to it with floral hops. There's a somewhat spicy note...maybe clove along with some brown sugar from the malts. However, I just can't seem to get around the grassy aroma. Despite this and a noticeably weak hop presence, this beer has pretty decent flavor. Floral hops and wet biscuity malts. There's some grapefruit as well. Not at all in the spectrum I prefer for IPA's, but pleasing and easy to drink in any regard.

A: Poured a copper-amber color with about 2 fingers and off-white sticky lace till the end.

S: Piny smell with some sort of citrus, but not orange. Might be one of the fruits described in the reviews below.

T: Great taste. Not very malty, hoppy! Dry finish, which is good. An earthy taste, mostly pine.

M: Good mouthfeel. Not very carbonated, prickly on the mouth, and dry finish.

D: Probably could down a sixer of this, but would not be able to switch to another beer if so. Not a great beer for outside summer, probably not intended to be. I would drink this beer on a moderatly chilled spring day...

It was a decent IPA. Not my favorite but surely drinkable. It pours into what you would expect from an IPA with a nice head that sticks to the glass. The smell of hops is nice with some pine notes. The taste is good though not my favorite like I say. It has a crisp and heavy mouthfeel but finish nicely with a little bite. It has a nice drinkability if you are expecting the hop characters.

Pours a dark, almost coppery, amber with a decent off-white head. Aroma is fairly hoppy with a firm undertone of grapefruit. Flavor is hoppy, though not strongly so, and somewhat malty with grapefruit and other fruity hints. Texture is fairly fizzy and edgy.

12oz into portsmouth tulip. Good times.

A- Nice clear honeysuckle body.. seafoam head that is impressive in volume. 3 fingers off the first pour.. settles nicely with some fairly thick lacing. About 1/2 a finger but dense 5 min. later.

S- Citric hops.. tangerine/grapefruit with a dash of mango.

T- Sweet.. papaya/mango come to mind with a close chaser of bitter pine. Decent.. malt is just there as a platform and does nothing for the flavor.. still.. as an IPA it's pretty tasty. Bitterness might be too strong considering the sweetness of the initial taste... they're clashing rather than synergising.

M- Decent, if forgettable. Good balance... mild citric twang, a bit over-carbed.

D- For the (assumed) price point, fairly high. I could knock a few of these back. One of the better Dundee beers I've had.

Bottle poured into pint glass.

A: Golden with a little haze. About a 1/2 inch head that disappears very quickly. Hardly any lacing.

S: An earthy smell during the initial pour, other than that not much aroma

T: Hoppy and a tad sweet. Ending with an alcohol taste.

M: Light mouth feel and carbonation. Dry finish.

D: It's light enough to have a couple in a row, however I would not order more than one if I was out.

It is a generic IPA that lacks in the aroma area. Dundee did not take any risks with this one. Worth trying if on sale or in a mix pack.

Courtesty of my friend Sam, who found it on sale. There isn't an IPA or pale ale I won't give a whirl.

A - Clear dark gold with a half finger tan head. Pretty minimal retention and lacing.

S - Earthy, but somewhat off like some of the larger produced IPAs tend to be. I can't discern the hops. Very bready.

T - Bitter hops and biscuity. Somewhat medicinal, and I don't really care for the hop palette used here. Caramel/slightly sweet dry finish.

M - Medium light mouthfeel. I do like the amount of carbonation, it makes the beer refreshing. Dry boozy finish.

D - Somewhat sessionable but too dry and boozy for me to session.

Overall, it's pretty decent and was on sale. Not an outstanding IPA but worth a try.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass

A: Clear, basic amber color with active bubbles, semi-creamy white (but not pure white) head that is a little less than one finger, some lace

S: Average IPA aroma, pretty mild though, smells kind of hoppy but not much distinction

T: Not very strong for an IPA, more like a pale ale, pretty sweet malt flavor, a little grainy like an average lager though but with more hops, again not very flavorful like the aroma, just kind of semi-bitter, what flavor does come through is citrusy and orange peel with some lemon

M:Smooth, but a little thin for my liking, doesn't feel very carbonated

D: Ok, but the flavor isn't really there for an IPA that I want

Notes: Not a bad beer, but when I want an IPA I want it to be more bitter and more flavorful. This would make a good "starter IPA" thought.

Dark gold color with a slight chill haze. Minor head which settles to a single minute bubble layer. Leaves a single ring of lace from the initial pour

Stale and earthy smell. There's also a medicinal, band-aide odor of phenol.

Strong caramel flavor, reminds me of Drambuie. There's a definite lack of bitter hop. The aftertaste has a harsh, nondescript bitterness that is tempered by a caramel sweetness. Good body for the style.

Glass - Pint

A - Amber/penny like color, lite Co2 can be seen and it produced a 1-2 finger head, retention was under par. A couple spots left on the glass, no real lacing.

S - Very biscuity, not much hop in the nose, in fact it's more like an Amber/Red ale! Way off for the style, I got some mild buttery notes with subtle pine, and a little dryness. Very disappointing for the style it claims to be.

T - Very bisciuty upfront with some layers of caramel & molasses, some soft citrus notes follow. Finishes with some lingering biscuit malt flavors and a bit of alcohol. Kinda like an English style IPA, no American pine/grapefruit/rind/intense bitterness here, just very malty. A little metallic as it warms, yuck!

M - Lite crispness, smooth, almost chewy, around medium bodied.

D - I don't like this at all, it's kinda like a shot at the English IPA style, nothing like a traditional American IPA, at all. Maybe a beginner IPA? I don't know, but I'm not buying this one again for sure, I could drink a few I guess, but for the style it says it is, no I'll have something else.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color with a magnificent head that leaves a streaky pattern of lace

Smell: Grainy aroma, with a hint of citrus

Taste: Biscuity, up front, with a growing aspirin-like bitterness that becomes all encompassing though it relents, just before mid-palate to let the malt come through again; after the swallow, the flavors are in balance though the hops leave a bitter, medicinal aftertaste in my mouth

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Drinkability: I don't care for the hop profile at all - not recommended

12oz bottle from the Dundee variety 12 pack. Drank out of my sam adams glass.

Appearance: Very clear for an IPA. Light orange-golden color. Nice head after pour that quickly disappears leaving lace on glass.
Aroma: Some hop aroma, some sweet smell in background.
Taste: Bitter, but not strong for an IPA. Slight caramel flavor. Some piney flavors.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light mouthfeel. Finishes dry.
Overall: A somewhat weak IPA. Has neither strong bitterness or strong hop aroma. Tastes like a higher bittered pale ale. OK to drink. I am not a hop head, but this beer disappoints for an IPA. It is cheaper, which shows in the amount of hops used for aroma or flavor.

poured into a fluted pint glass. pours a golden copper color, a little orange. a nice big billowy frothy head with some really nice lace, which is a totally different appearence than the other dundee beers, usually fizzy with poor retention. well this one has some great retention and lots of sticky foam on the side.

a nice hoppy aroma, definatly not kicking your teeth out, but its there. piney, kinda earthy hops. smells like some pellet hops before you throw them in the pot. maybe just a touch of malt in the aroma, but hardly detectable.

prolly the best beer in the dundee variety pack, but that really isnt saying much. some biscuity, slightly buttery malts giveway to rather nasty metallic taste. some earthy, grassy hops, maybe a tiny bit of pine showing up. a little spicy. finishs with a lingering hop bitterness, but again, nothing strong. metallic malt like flavor in the finish as well.

a tad too much carbonation. a little on the fizzy side, but nothing like the other beers. medium to light body. no resiny, oily in the mouth feel like you usually get from ipas, exspecially double ipas. the metallic flavors ruin the mouthfeel a little as well.

decent drinkability, but not worth ever trying after the second bottle in my 12 pack. i wouldnt reccomend it and would suggest pretty much any popular ipa well over this one. but its drinkable for sure and prolly pretty easy to session if you so choose so, but so yourself a favor and stay away from dundee. average to a little below average beers is all they make. the same brewery that makes genny light and genny cream ale, so that cant be too great.

A: Pours a ruby-hued copper with an impressive foamy head that settles to a one-finger crown. Sticky lacing abounds.

S: Somewhat off-putting aroma: metallic and grassy.

T: Opens with a grainy scratch that hits the back of the throat before settling into a decidedly bitter middle. Spicy notes reminiscent of rye. Finishes super dry.

M: Thin and creamy mouthfeel with a notable lack of carbonation.

D: Good representative of the style and a fine session beer. Worthy of a try.

12 oz. brown bottle. Unknown shelf date.

A: Thin, clear-white head which does not last long. Not out of the ordinary for an IPA. Dark amber with some reddish hues.

S: Hoppy with definite citrus notes. A touch of clove-like essence. Not overwhelming but still not bad.

T: Very hoppy with citrus and some spice notes much like clove.

M: Dry and hoppy bitter. Lingering bitter with alcohol overtones.

D: I found it easy to drink especially on a hot day. The colder the better, for me.

Cheers!

Poured from 12oz bottle

A- pours a dark copper look. Thick head oF foam with solid lacing on the edges. Carbonation races to the top

S- malty presence of hops dominates a slight floral scent. Not as overally hoppy as a expected for an ipa.

T- hints on brown sugar, bitterness, grapefruit/earthy profile salvage this brew. The bitterness lingers as the taste exits. Unexpectedly tasty

M- creamy and carbonated. It gives life to the brew. Medium body

D- not bad at all. Let's be realistic... It is not the flagship ipa that will make your mouth water. Nevertheless, dundee has an ipa that is enjoyable in a sitting

I poured this particular beverage into a pint glass. It is amber with about one finger of off white head. The smell is balanced with some pine hops aroma and a solid malt backbone. The taste is malt up front with some pine hops flavor on the back end. I am on my second one, and it tastes better than the first. It has a pretty clean finish. It's not a bad beer, but it's not an extreme beer that everyone seeks. It'd be a good beer to drink around a bonfire or at a cookout as an alternative to a macro lager.

Cheers!

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: One and a half fingers of light tan head on a clear amber body. Good head retention and lacing. This beer is off to a good start.

Smell: Very little aroma. Slight grapefruit. This is more what I expected from a Dundee beer.

Taste: Nice bitterness and some caramel flavor. Still lacking in the fruity hop flavors that American IPA's are known for. Bitterness and the malt make up for it, though. Prickly carbonation. Kind of has a spicy rye quality. Not sure what that's from.

This one is a pretty copper color with some nice activity. A dense white head retains pretty well and leaves some decent lacing behind.
The aroma has a surprising hops presence, giving off a citric and floral bouquet. There's also a solid malt balance adding a light sweetness.
Interestingly, the hops aren't as strong in the initial sip as on the nose, though the flavor gives way to the taste of hops halfway through the swallow and into the finish. There's a bit of a crisp green apple flavor with a touch of grains behind a caramel malt backing. I think most would expect more hops, but it's solid at the least.
Carbonation is moderate, lending itself a little to a crisp bite in the feel. A light smoothness comes out further along. The body is medium. I suppose there could be a little more character in this aspect.

A- clear orange amber with golden highlights topped with a thick bubbly cap of buff colored foam. retention is great and it takes a little too long to settle down. my curiosity is making me anxious. head becomes wrinkly and pock marked as it recedes and it leaves a great deal of lace. so far so good.

S- noticable amarillo nose, floral, but could be a little stronger. grapefruit and mandarin orange mainly and a somewhat generic lightly toasted malt background.

T- nicely bitter with good hop flavor but again the malt is kinda bland. grapefruit, pine, wood, toasted multi-grain bread. more of a hop oil flavor as opposed to something green and vinous. finishes with lingering bitterness and grapefruit rind.

MF- a little thin on the palate but soft and cottony on the lips. hops feel warm. aggressive but tight carbonation making lots of burps. medicinal drying feel.

D- better than i would have expected but more along the lines of a hopped up APA. some more malt behind this one could make it a real winner. no problem finishing this one but there are better easily accessible ipas in my neck of the woods. given to me by my main man distributor dave as a sample.

Drank from the bottle with no freshness date. The label says, "Be Bitter." Not exactly one of the bitterest IPA's I have had. More of an English style IPA. No real citrus or grapefruit flavors. More of a dry hoppy flavor. A good amount of balanced malts. Mouthfeel is pretty smooth with only a limited amount of carbonated bubbles. Drinkable nature is only hindered by my personal preferance. This was a surprisingly good brew.

I've had mixed experiences with this brew. Curiosity caused me to buy the first six pack, as I'd only had Dundee's Honey Brown, which I find satisfactory. I found the IPA to be more than satisfactory, with all the hops I crave and the balance I applaud. The head was frothy and delightful, leaving ample lacing the whole way down. I sang its praises to every hophead I know. The other night I got another, and it was a bit skunked. I'm going on the premise that it was stored poorly and buying another in a moment.
