Pours a bright, clear yellow color with a one-finger head into my glass. Certainly is dull but correct for the style.

Aroma is full of corn adjunct, which imparts a lot of sweetness in the nose. Not really much else present.

Taste is surprisingly crisp and restrained as far as sweetness goes. Has a corny/bready taste to it.

Mouthfeel is full of lingering bread/malt flavors. It could be worse I suppose.

It's not bad. Easy to drink, simple and cheap ($1.19 a 24oz can). If all three characteristics float your boat, then you have a winner. Otherwise, there's better examples.

Well this is a new one, i've never seen Genny Ice in Florida. 5.5% alcohol comparitable to Natural Ice. Let see how this one turns out...

A- Pours an ultra clean golden fluid that pruduces a massive one and a quarter inch head that falls to a thin quarter inch froth that sticks around for the remainder of the brew. Lacing is patchy in consistancy, not bad for the style.

S- Musty malts and stinging esters of alcohol dominate the nose with little hints of corn and buttered grits.

T-M- The taste is relatively a sweet corn and maltly flavor that is only pushed even further by the alcohol fumes that linger in the backbone. On a positive note the smoothness of this beer are over expectations due to the mouthfeel. Slightly mild bodied with a light creamy note make this beer easy and light on the palate.

Overall this is a drinker for the rich bums on the street at only 1.49 per 24oz. they can enjoy a smooth and refreshing alcohol pick up with a low price and low amounts of damage to the palate... cheers!

Presentation: It was poured from a 24oz can into a pint glass. Its abv is listed at 5.5%.

Appearance: The body has a clear golden hue with a tall white head. The head fades quickly to thin wispy layer that leaves a little light lacing at the top of the glass.

Smell: There is really not much here at all to note. It has just a very light and simple cereal grain nose.

Taste/palate: For an Ice Beer this one has a very modest overall flavor. I get some corn cereal and pale grain flavor notes with some light mineral and alcohol notes in the finish. The palate is lighter than most ice beers and overall it slides down quite easy.

Notes: Overall it’s fairly clean, light and dry.

Served/Poured from a can. The logo or can design looks different than what is depicted above. Same as regular logo, just blue instead of red. Says "ICE Beer" under the logo.

Anyhow, this beer pours an extremely clear golden with a decent, 1/2 inch white head that doesnt go away too quickly. The quality of the head and it's retention actually surprise me.
Smells of toasted grains, corn, very faint malt sweetness, and a touch of alcohol. Taste is of lots of corn flavors, light grain, husky, some alcohol traces in the finish as well as a little sour. When the beers warms up a bit, however, it gets really bad - bringing out the alcohol flavor blended with a very off/spoiled flavor. Mouthfeel is fairly light, very carbonated, and finishes dry.

I always heard about this stuff as being "bottom of the barrel" but I can actually say that I would drink this over BMC....as long as it stays cold. Exceeded my expectations - for what it is. I expected a can of skunky, alcoholic water. I was wrong.

Presentation: 12 oz sliver and black can with no description of the beer. No freshness date to be found.

Appearance: Lightly weathered golden hue, good frothing of the white head that subsides to a thin lace and sticks a bit.

Smell: Sweet grainy aromas with a discord of cooked corn and veggies makes for only a semi-clean nose.

Taste: Oddly light viscous in the crisp mouth feel to feign a bigger body than what it actually is … moderate, carbonation is at a medium to high level. Sweetness is high with a growing but not overpowering cloyingness. Malt flavour is obviously thin from the start, cooked corn grits and mildly brash alcohol with a simple hop bitterness cut a little into the sweetness. Grain flavours a remnants of the cooked grits in the finish.

Notes: This fits into the “ice beer” mold, nothing to get excited about just a plain lager with a slightly pumped up alcohol in comparison to its counterpart. If it has a cheaper price tag than it probably is worth it but the you get what you pay for also.

12oz can poured down my gullet.

Nose is well, macro lager bland meh nose. It's not good but after some good beer, it's not so bad.

Taste is light and like carbonated water it's got some light malt and rice. It's really thin and bleh. Skip it, its not so good.

Appears a deep golden straw color much like a glass of apple juice with a fizzy bright white head forming and dwindlingly quickly. Minimal speckled lacing very thin trace amounts.

Aroma a touch of rought grain filled alcohol, cooked veggies, creamed corn. Genny Ice I had to to do it tall boy cans for a six were $3.20, talk about a cheap date.

Flavor is terrible residual sweetness from the freeze, taking water away from the standard Genesee wouldn't help the experience. Rough grain flavor, cooked veggies, a touch of green apple and evident alcohol especially for a beer only 5.5% abv.

Mouthfeel is cloying carbonation is unnatural, overall a very poor sensual experience after taste is much like stomach acid.

Drinkability not really an option for me to drink more than one of these, actually I'm not making it through a whole one. God awful terrible beer, standard Genesee is great compared to this mess.

The roommate had a bunch of these in the fridge. Why not try it?

I feel strange pouring this beer into my SA pint, but i can't tell what it looks like otherwise. It's a light yellow-gold in color with a small white cap of head that actually has pretty good retention and even leaves a bit of lacing. It doesn't look bad.
Here's where it gets a little dicey. This is mostly grains with an unpleasant sweetness and it's pretty much all corn husk underneath with that tell-tale note of steamed cabbage or overcooked greens. There's a fusel alcohol note all the way.
The taste follows suit, with the main difference being that while the sweetness is close to cloying, it's not quite. Grains. Corn. The vegetable element is pretty well cut out, so that's a plus. It's not entirely terrible, not really even bad, as even adjuncts can almost facsimilate a decent beer.
The body almost feel medium at times, which is interesting. Carbonation is a bit high but not crazy. It is crisp and, while there could be more smoothness, it's there as well.

24oz can poured into a snifter. Canned on June 20th.

A: Pours a light amber gold with a decent white head that is somewhat quick to dissipate. Leaves some lacing on the sides.

S: Sort of a harsh macro lager aroma. Corn sweetness dominates.

T: More malt forward than the regular Genny. As anticipated from the aroma this is a fairly sweet beer for having such little flavor.

M: Light to medium body. A bit sticky but not too bad. Fairly easy drinking as long as its cold.

Overall it fits in with your typical Ice beer. A more malty and boozy version of their base. Think I might rather drink a normal Genny.

40 oz!!! Obliged a friend and helped him out with half of the bottle. Still 20 oz....

AP: I noticed that the head was actually decent, very active and displayed good retention. Pale gold in color.

Nose: Sweet-ish malt (like malt-liquor almost) slightly hoppy.

Taste: A sweet-like malt flavor with some wheatyness. Very much like most macro-lagers, only this seems to be a lot like a "malt liquor" then a macro lager. Leaves a bit of a sickly sweet malted after taste.

MF: Pretty lively and active so it has a decent bite at first, but since it's not really easy to drink quickly it will get flat and thin feeling very fast.

DA: Not horrible at first but it just gets weak really fast...I just gotta learn to say no to these 40 oz offerings from my "buddies".

When you pay .99 for a 24 ounce can you really can't expect too much. This stuff isn't even worthy of a full A-S-T-M-O review but here we go...

A - Pours out a big head that is gone instantly. It looks "dead" in the glass but I doubt much of this is drank from a glass.

S/T - The smell and taste are adjunct city - heavy corn/grainy flavor and smell with even a hint of wine-like flavors.

M- Very thin mouth feel.

O - Overall this is not a particularly good entry in the "Ice" category and there are far better choices in this 5.5 - 5.9 class. I am a big fan of the Genesee Brewing Company, but this stuff just doesn't make the cut with me.

Pours a dark gold with a thin lacing of soft, white head that fades to thin lacing. The nose is grainy and simple. The flavor is similar; grainy, sweet, but has a decent, grassy hop character. The mouthfeel is light, smooth, and mildly carbonated.

This isn't a great beer. Honestly, it's on the scale of the best macro brew.

Genesee Ice is surprisingly dark with a deep golden body that leans towards amber. It appears to be almost 7 SRM! Could it be old beer? When held to the light it's crystal clear... and the flavor shows no signs of oxidation... so I checked the production date: April 10th, just over a month old. Interesting. The rocky head is also slightly dark, being more of an off-white than the bright white that I'd expected. The head holds well, and leaves some nice lacing behind. That's fairly unusual.

The aroma, however, is exactly as expected. There are no real hops present, nor is there any particularly distinct malt. Instead, it's the common "generic" beer aroma found in so many mass-produced beers - some might call it "cereal-like". A bit of yeasty sulphur rounds that out.

The flavor turns things around again. There's a nice bit of grainy malt to it, and some spicy and floral hops come through as well. Yes, it's clear that there's a fair amount of adjunct involved as it has a touch of "corn" to it, but the little bit of character that it does have is a welcome change. It tends towards the sweet side, of course, but it remains balanced and finishes mostly dry with a touch of mineral and a smear of light alcohol.

For an inexpensive beer (I paid $11.95 for 30 / 12 oz cans @ Bell's Beverage in Philadelphia, PA) it's not bad. All of the young kids in my area are quite loyal to their Yuengling Lager, but I imagine they'd be hard pressed to discern that from this. If I was heading out on an all-day fishing charter, or maybe a canoe trip where you could flip and lose all your beer I'd definitely consider this.

Poured into a straight sided tumbler, quickly receding white head over a darker for the usual beers of this type, a nice deepish gold. Crystal clear when held to the light. Sweet malty/light adjunct aromas but nothing off-putting for sure. The taste is clean with little adjunct qualities, a bit of hop snap to it and finshes clean with no corn aftertaste...at $1.09/24 oz can it's my go-to lawnmower or in this case broke as a joke brew. Far better than the Bud/Miller/Coors 24 oz'ers.

Your usual "ice" beer. Needs to be served extremely cold to keep from gagging on the bad taste. I say, chuck this and just buy vodka. If you are that desperate to get drunk, there are better and cheaper ways.

Genesee Ice Beer brewed by Genesee Brewing Co. / Dundee Brewing Co. This brew has an ABV of 5.5. The brew pours out a dark amber color with a small white head. Genesee Ice is darker than most Ice brews on the market. The smell is strong with grains and corn. Genesee Ice is a lot smoother than the original Genesee Beer. There is just something more to it to make it smoother. This brew goes real smooth with no harsh aftertaste. For an ice Beer this real good no hard alcohol taste or after taste for that matter. You can taste the grains and corn but nothing bad. Mouthfeel is nice clean . Overall I'm giving Genesee Ice a 4.75 out of 5 This is one Ice Beer that I can enjoy. For the price this is a good go to brew. Genesee Ice is a brew that I would buy again.

Last week I saw 24oz cans of Genessee Ice at 99cents a piece and decided I had to try this as another possible option for cheap beer.

Appearance could best be described as light copper color with a fizzy white head showing a lively carbonation.

Aroma is grainy and a bit of a corn aroma too, both being a bit stronger than your typical adjunct beer.

Taste is heavy on the corny grain flavor with a healthy dose of metallic flavor mixed in too. For the style, I would say this is packing more flavor than your typical adjunct lager and it's not that appalling either. I find this beer to be reminiscent of PBR but better.

Mouthfeel is crisp but it's rather heavy feel makes it less refreshing than many adjunt lagers.

My overall impression is you get what you pay for with this beer. Cheap beer will always have a place in my fridge because I hate to waste good beer on a wrecked palate and at 99cents for a 24oz can I will gladly add this to my list of worthy cheap beers.

From the 12 fl. oz. can no. 0779 R 14:42. Sampled on May 29, 2009.

A - mainly pale yellow to a little golden with a continual puffy white head and cconsiderable carbonation. Lacing is light.

S - The alcohol aroma is n ot as evident as most ice beers but it is there faintly mixe with grass, grains, and something breadlike.

T/M - Watery mouthfeel and not very impressive. The taste has a typical combination of corn and grains with a touch of hops.

It is worth every penny of the $3.49 I paid for the 6-pack.

Can dated 3131, 3-4 months old according to the julian date.

Pours into a mug with a loose cap of white foam that settles quickly to a broken skim and a ring around the edges. There's rapidly rising carbonation, and it has an orange gold color, darker that many AAL's.

Smells like sweet candy apple, grape juice, and swilly grains. As it warms, something rank like BO or fusel alcohol starts to bleed in.

Flavors are similar, grape/apple from wine yeast presumably, some sticky adjunct grains, and a mild astringent feel. Body is a shade under medium, and it's fairly quaffable when cold, but it tastes bad. Bland and winey. Not something i'd revisit, there are better budget options out there.

24 ounce can. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a clear dark gold color with about a half inch off-white head. There's a small amount of lacing. Not much to the aroma, it just smells like sweet/grainy malt. Taste is the same as the aroma, it's all sweet/grainy malt. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's smooth and easy enough to drink with moderate carbonation. There's even a slight slickness to the mouthfeel. This isn't too bad at all, there aren't any offensive flavors or aromas. Actually, I was expecting a lot worse so this brew was a nice surprise. For $1.09 a can you could certainly do a lot worse. For the style of beer it is, I'd buy this again if I was in the mood for it.

Poured from a 12 ounce can into a mug.

2 fingers of off-white head recedes too quickly leaving behind no lacing. Body is a little lighter in color than a German marzen. Looks about right for the style. Smells and tastes like one would expect an American ice beer to taste. Borderline malt liquor. Not a bad choice if you're on a serious budget but certainly not something I would suggest to a real beer enthusiast.
