pours a deep deep red midnight even when held up to the midsummer sun....dark tan head laces ok and settles much faster than Guinness....i almost wonder why this is in a summer time variety pack...but i do love stouts.

slight toasty-malt nose. nothing that hammers the olfactory, but nice and fresh. maybe a little bit of cold metallicness. not in a bad way, but not as 'organic' as i'd like.

rather refreshing and delightful in a weird way. definitely a 'summer' stout if there ever was one...fairly dry finish. not much lingering. perhaps this is best either ice cold or warmed up a bit...definitely a beginner's stout but not a disposable brew at all...one gets the roastedness and a nice dried, dark fruit sweetness that isn't cloying. not bad at all. heck, 'good' ! mouthfeel helps this along with its good level of carbonation, summer 'thin-ness' and slight creaminess.

quite drinkable. easy session brew for those wanting to...it's not pedestrian nor is it quite worthy of serving to the goddess of beer....but her attendants probably love it all the same.

if anything, this probably goes so well with food...whereas world class stouts, art-for-palate-sake, are best solo. so, sure, i'd say give this a try. i think it will hit folks differently.

Pours a deep brown with about a finger width of foam when poured into a pint glass. Less foam than I was expecting. Smells of cocoa and a deeper, more bitter smell. Mouthfeel is pretty creamy, yet bitter. Taste is mostly cocoa to me, a little bit deeper/darker than some other chocolatey stouts. Goes down smooth, cocoa/bitter aftertaste. Overall, one of the betters stouts I've had.

Poured from a 12oz bottle, no #freshbeer info.

Ecru head forms, disappears in about 2 minutes leaving no trace behind really. Body is densely black, milky chocolate in the aroma. Flavor is thin, some chocolate but very neutral taste. Has hint of sourness and a metallic taste in the finish. Weak and not terribly enjoyable. Perfect for cooking!
