Purchased as part of a mixer pack. A good example of this style. I was expecting a darker brew though

Pours a very clear light mahogany color with a big fat head that displayed both
superior retention as well as clinging lace.
SMELL: Very sweet malts, toffee and caramel and a little herbal peppery spice.
TASTE: Malty, with some caramel, nutty. Still sweet, yet dry at the finish.
Clean, creamy with a moderate body.
Looking at other scores, surprised at how low they are. IMO this is a beer that easily is better than just OK. To each their own.

This was a surprise I found in a sampler pack, pour showed a dark golden color with a small white head...head faded but some nice lace hung around. Smell was rich and full of malty hints, taste followed and some Carmel notes came out as it warmed. A nice medium mouthfeel shows a solid English-Style Ale for the brand...I'd pick up a 6 of this for sure.

Pours slightly cloudy, caramel color. Small head dissipates quickly. Flavors of lemon give way to cloves. Heavily carbonated. Bitter aftertaste. A very good, balanced and full-flavored beer.

Dundee English-Style Ale brewed by Genesee Brewing Co. / Dundee Brewing Co. This brew has an ABV 5.10% English-Style Ale pours out a nice light brown color with a small white head. This is a filtered brew you can see right thought it. The smell is rich with grains and malts. You pick up on some sweetness, in the smell. Now for the taste it it, bold with flavor. You pick up on the malts in the taste of this brew. The mouthfeel is nice, clean and mild. There is nothing overpowering in this brew. Dundee English-Style Ale has a nice balance to it. I would buy this brew again. Overall I'm giving Dundee English-Style Ale a 4.5 out of 5.

Thank You Genesee Brewing Co. / Dundee Brewing Co.

Bottle label data: none noted

Apricot-hued body with a thick, frothy, white head. Mild caramel and toffee aroma. Warm, hearty bread flavor; subtle fruitiness; well-balanced hop bitterness. Medium body, leaning towards the heavy side; chewy.

A nice, warm, malt forward beer. There is a nice residual sugar component that adds a subtle sweetness without any cloying elements. Very respectable...

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass, there was no "best by" date that I could find.

APPEARANCE: pours a slightly hazy golden/orange color with one finger off-white head that dissipated quickly leaving a thin broken layer of bubbles, there was very little lacing on the glass, medium carbonation.

SMELL: sweet toffee, roasted malt, a slight metallic smell, very subtle to the nose.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, sweet toffee, roasted malt and a slight metallic hop profile, a mild somewhat watery beer.

PALATE: medium body and carbonation, somewhat creamy.

OVERALL: this is not a bad beer but nothing special, paid $9.99 for a sampler 12 pack. For the price would but it again.

Another poor offering from Dundee. I got a variety pack and this is the worst of the lot. It tastes like nothing. Seriously, nothing. So if you're looking for lame cheap beer that tastes like nothing then this is the one for you!

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present, acquired this as part of the variety twelve pack, on sale at the local Jewel-Osco for $10.99. Expectations aren't great considering what it is, but I have high hopes.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - Pours a murky golden orange colored body with some light sediment in the glass. Just under a finger of frothy white head that leaves good thick lacing scattered lacing.

S - The aroma is herbal, bitter, & malty. Notes of twigs, earth, apples, & pears. Crisp, earthy, and appealing.

T - Taste follows the nose - herbal / twiggy, caramel malt, apples / pears / peaches / cream. Simple in it's approach, but it is actually quite tasty when it comes down to it. Mildly estery, with some very minor alcohol content noticeable.

M - The feel is fruity, appley, and malty. Light bodied with good carbonation.

Poured into a pint glass.

A-Good creamy white head formed about 1/2 inch thick. Cloudy orangish gold color.

S-Not much to it, slight earthiness

T-Earthy hops and roasted malts, pretty dry though

M-Very smooth and creamy. Medium bodied

O-It was good. Nothing impressive. Not much flavor that makes me "have to" have another

Golden and a little cloudy with a light head. Slight metallic smell and maybe a little malty. Slightly metallic and sweet with notes of coriander and a malty aftertaste. Lightly effervescent with a little bite. There's not a lot to this beer. Like the rest of the beers in the sampler pack, it's fairly uninteresting and has a slight metallic taste. It's drinkable but as satisfying as a good craft beer should be.

This is a nice English Ale.. Perhaps a bit sweet, but has a nice smell, and the carbonation dances on the tongue... Nice crispy sweetness likeness to a Crisp sweet apple. The smell-taste experience is a cross between a tart Macintosh apple and a sweet cider.. I like Dundee Beers/Ales... And the price is ... a bargain for the flavour experience and sensory pleasure from a adjunct mass produced company.. Another nice win for Dundee... !!!
Yum!

A- slightly hazy copper with a small white head leaving lots of lace

S- bread, berries, grass, dried fruit, toffee. It seems like these should work but it comes through as a muddled sweet smells mess

T-similar to the nose but fruitier with a bit of bubblegum character.

M- fairly thin and prickly. The dryness keeps the toffee and fruit flavors from coming through as sweet but there's not enough bitterness to balance. Finishes with a metallic toffee flavor.

O- a pretty poor attempt at the style. A muddled mix of something that I wouldn't recognize as overly British.

Appearance: Deep, golden color with two fingers of head that fade slowly with a thick curtain of lace.

Aroma: Malt and toffy with some ripe fruit notes underneath.

Taste: Smooth malt, with some cooked vegetable and nutty flavors mixing in. Very light on the bitters, good mouth coating but not a ton of carbonation makes it seem heavier than it is. Finish is a bit phenolic.

The Rest: On par for a Dundee mixed-pack. Nothing fantastic but worth a try. Although I am a bit confused by the Saint Paulie Girl look-a-like on the bottle. Didn't realize that was an English thing as well.

Big slightly off white head slow recedes above a clear bright golden well carbonated beer.

Light lightly roasted grain malts lend an earthiness to the aroma.

Light grain malts taste with just a bit of grassiness or something similar to that coming through as well.

A light dry aftertaste without much taste of anything hanging around with this light bodied beer.

A very light beer without a unpleasant aftertaste like a lot of lighter American beers have.

taste: bready with a touch of diacetyl and a real earthy taste.

notes: servicable, true to style.

12-oz bottle into Samuel Smith "Tulip" pint glass

A - 3 fingers of cream-colored head over a slightly-cloudy golden yellow body (almost a tint of amber)

S - weak grainy smell, butter

T - wheat bread seasoned with herbal hops, slight fruitiness

M - medium body with medium/high carbonation

O - The color could be darker, the smell could certainly be stronger and more complex, the malt profile could be more pronounced, and the carbonation could be a few notches lower. It's a drinkable brew, but nothing special.

It's got a nice head, that's got to count for something. The beer itself is a slightly copper colored ginger ale looking liquid. The head is a couple fingers of different sized white bubbles. Thick and fluffy, it's got powerhouse retention and killer lace.

I tried and tried and tried to pick up some sort of scent, but there isn't much there. I think I detected something cracker-like, but I can't be positive.

It tastes like what I imagine dirty water would taste like. It's possibly got some imitation Noble hop variety and maybe even some ginger, but it really does taste like what I think dirty water tastes like.

Has kind of a faux savory feel. Either that or it's just beer gone bad, can't really tell. It gives me a bit of a pucker in the finish which I why I thought ginger might be in it.

Pretty bad beer. Not easy to get down. Better off avoiding this one.

My first post and apologize in advance about the format. I was disappointed with this English style ale though maybe my expectations were compromised. I love Theakstons, Tetleys, etc. and while I love the Dundee label, this beer disappointed from an expectations standpoint.

On the other hand, for a relatively inexpensive, surprising experience and for those interested in a light, lemony taste with easy drinkability, good after taste, it's not half bad.

A: pours a clear golden yellow color with a white head and ample amounts of lacing

S: light smell, wheat, grains, malts

T: light flavor as well, bread, grains, wheat, yeast, malts, and a bit of hops, could use a bit more oomp on the flavor side

M: medium carbonation, it is smooth and refreshing, its alrigt

O: was not bad, I would say it is alright, not impressive but I could drink one after another of this stuff, I'd say it is worth a try.

Appearance: yellow/brown more yellow on the spectrum.
Aroma of light malt.
Taste: not much here. light malt, slight hint of some hops.
Palate: very light mouthfeel.
Overall: depends on what you are looking for. Easy drinking beer better than your classic lager but not as good as many beers out there.

Poured cold from the bottle.

This beer poured a slightly hazy gold/amber colour with a ead that disappeared right away. There's really not much to the smell at all; a little bit of a wheat/yeast maybe. A very pronounced wheat taste that is not the most pleasing. Pretty much a craft-beer version of Bud Light...

Would I buy it again? Absolutely not.

i thought this was a much better beer than the people here are giving credit for. it pours clear and boring, a little copper in color, but too flat in luster for that, and with only a quarter inch of white fading head. the smell was also a little pedestrian, with english caramel and pale malts being the most visible, and some hop i cant immediatey identify, but its bitter and ancient, some goldings or something. the flavor is the same, but the finish makes this beer, its dry and clean as a palace floor, with some low key hops crackling over the palate. love the way this feels, bubbly carbonation above the dry finish, and a plenty drinkable light medium body. some toasty notes to wash it down, this was a good offering from dundee, not spectacular, but a step in the right direction for sure. the star of the most recent mixed box.
