Brilliant gold with a finger and a half of pebbly white head. Good retention. Rings of lace at every gulp. It's a pretty beer, at least.

Deep, biscuity malt, some caramel, hay-like hops.

Again, sweet malt with some hay-like hops.

Medium-heavy with ample carbonation.

A simple, quaffable ale. Nothing too spectacular, but then again, it isn't trying to be.

A- slightly hazy copper with a small white head leaving lots of lace

S- bread, berries, grass, dried fruit, toffee. It seems like these should work but it comes through as a muddled sweet smells mess

T-similar to the nose but fruitier with a bit of bubblegum character.

M- fairly thin and prickly. The dryness keeps the toffee and fruit flavors from coming through as sweet but there's not enough bitterness to balance. Finishes with a metallic toffee flavor.

O- a pretty poor attempt at the style. A muddled mix of something that I wouldn't recognize as overly British.

Poured cold from the bottle.

This beer poured a slightly hazy gold/amber colour with a ead that disappeared right away. There's really not much to the smell at all; a little bit of a wheat/yeast maybe. A very pronounced wheat taste that is not the most pleasing. Pretty much a craft-beer version of Bud Light...

Would I buy it again? Absolutely not.

Pours a pale hazed copper orange hue with a bright white head forming thick and dwindling down at a moderate pace. Aroma has a pleasant rolling biscuit malt profile with hints of apricot spread, citrus, and herbacous leaves. Flavor is a clean drinking session English style pale ale. Light bodied last carbonation slight oily mouthfeel nothing bad to say.

12 oz bottle.

Pours a medium amber with a large, frothy, off-white head.

Aroma: a bit unpleasant: musty and earthy. {a 2nd tasting in Jan. 2012 had a mildly pleasant aroma, with no musty aspect - rating adjusted accordingly].

Initially, the flavor is quite subtle, but a good malty mix comes in mid-taste and lingers. Some hop presence, although less than suggested by the aroma.

M: light-medium body; good carbonation; admirably smooth.

O - a decent if unexceptional English PA, with one sample marred by a rather poor aroma.

Big slightly off white head slow recedes above a clear bright golden well carbonated beer.

Light lightly roasted grain malts lend an earthiness to the aroma.

Light grain malts taste with just a bit of grassiness or something similar to that coming through as well.

A light dry aftertaste without much taste of anything hanging around with this light bodied beer.

A very light beer without a unpleasant aftertaste like a lot of lighter American beers have.

for the style, well above average appearance, with a sturdy white head, some good lacing that dissipates after a few minutes...dark blonde beauty. nose has a wonderful freshness of light malts and hops...very balanced. nothing complex, but that's not part of the style. so far, so good. refreshing. bold. this is where the taste ups the ante. again, complexity not at play, but there's a perfect balance of malt graininess and hop presence. if anything, if i was doing a blind taste test, i would think this was an ESB. full bodied, plenty to taste. an all-around anytime brew that i could easily session alone or with good pub fare. i can't help but laugh at how folks rate some beers so severely. remember the style. the pale ale isn't an ipa

Pours unexpectedly light in color -- pale gold. Average head, and a solid semblance of lacing, as well. Not bad.

Nose is malty. Seems almost adjunct and lagery somehow. Not so impressive.

Taste is sweet and malty, with a little more body than a typical lager, thankfully. Not much complexity, though, and the hops (supposedly Columbus and Cascade) are steamrolled by the sweet malts. This one seems a little flat to me, and isn't one I'd recommend.

It's got a nice head, that's got to count for something. The beer itself is a slightly copper colored ginger ale looking liquid. The head is a couple fingers of different sized white bubbles. Thick and fluffy, it's got powerhouse retention and killer lace.

I tried and tried and tried to pick up some sort of scent, but there isn't much there. I think I detected something cracker-like, but I can't be positive.

It tastes like what I imagine dirty water would taste like. It's possibly got some imitation Noble hop variety and maybe even some ginger, but it really does taste like what I think dirty water tastes like.

Has kind of a faux savory feel. Either that or it's just beer gone bad, can't really tell. It gives me a bit of a pucker in the finish which I why I thought ginger might be in it.

Pretty bad beer. Not easy to get down. Better off avoiding this one.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a deep golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is malty and somewhat sweet. Taste is mild, malts up front, some biscuty notes, very lightly hopped. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle sampled on November 18, 2011. It has a handsome looking medium amber pour with lively carbonation that leads to a long-lasting head and loads of lacing. The aroma has vague malts, slightly bolder hops, but a lot of bread and biscuit. The body is thin to medium. There is an odd sort of Capryclic acidity in it with a faint sweet malt-sharp bitter balance. It was not what I had hoped. That English water really makes the difference.

This was in the mixed 12 'Craft Pack' I found at Wegmans in Mechanicsburg, PA for around $13.00.

Look: Poured a cleer light amber color. Some carbonation with a tiny white film on top for a head.

Smell: I definitely picked up on some English Pale Ale characteristics in the nose. The aroma had that distinctive malt that is common to other English styles I've had. There was also a biscuit quality.

Taste: First were some standard malts with some dryness. Middle was a little bready and then the palate went completely clean with a slight chemical aftertaste of chlorine or something along those lines.

I didn’t find this to be that great. There are so many others that blow this out of the water. Although the price is low, I would still prefer a Saranac or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale which are both in the same price range in my area (PA).
