pint glass.

a -pours a hazy, pale amber color with lots of streaming bubbles visible. gave me a thin cap of sudsy, off white head that quickly calmed to a film. thin leggy lacing.

s - toffee, dark fruits, faint buttered bread.

t - toffee malt with a nondescript fruitiness and faint earthiness. finishes dry and malty.

m - medium in body with more than enough carbonation. an extremely coarse co2 profile scrubs away most of the flavor before i have time to really take note of it.

o - meh. not too bad for a cheapie, but you get what you pay for. hits most of the style points at least.

When I am not drinking beer from a CAN and I am at home, I do not mind bottles. I am somewhat curious to try the entire Dundee oeuvre and I recently found singles of most of the ones that I have not previously reviewed.

From the bottle: "Classic and Clean"; "Back in merry olde England, the roadside inns were abuzz with banter and smiling glances from buxom barmaids - barmaids who we might add, brewed the ale they served. In their honor, our brewers treat each batch of Dundee English-Style Ale they brew with the same love and care as the barmaids of old, combining pale and caramel malts with Columbus and Cascade hops for a malty, slightly sweet finish. Now, if only they'd stop dressing like barmaids ...

I like it when a busty bamaid winks at me while drawing me a cask ale. Here, she's even stirring the pot all the while! My pour netted me just over a finger of dense, tawny head with great retention. Color was a deep golden-amber with NE-quality clarity and lots of carbonation in evidence. Nose was very malty-sweet. Mouthfeel was medium and it was a very pleasant beer to drink. It was on the sweet side, but not so much as to be overwhelming. I also got some great lacing beginning to appear in the glass. Finish was semi-sweet but quite quaffable and satisfying. Once again, at the price point, it was definitely worthwhile.

A new beer in the mixed sampler 12 pack. Pours a light golden color, pretty good amount of carbonation. Faint hop aroma. Nice mouthfeel, medium bodied, surprisingly refreshing. Some hops rise through, maybe a bit of a citrus or lemon tinge, with a nice clean finish. Not the most exciting of styles, but this is a pretty damn good beer. Sipped it down pretty quick and looking forward to the next one of these in the pack.

Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance – Pours a golden color with a light haze and a billowy white head. The head fades fast to give a lighter amount of lacing.

Smell – The aromas are relatively light, but consist of a bread and caramel aroma.

Taste – A malty flavor meets the tongue. A little bit of caramel sweetness is present up front and intensifies as the flavor moves toward the middle. The breadiness forms a base but toward the middle the caramel starts to fade as a lighter yeasty flavor begins working its way into the tongue. This flavor remains mild and mixes with the bread and a very light citrus flavor at the end which bring the taste to its finish.

Mouthfeel – Medium to just above medium in body with a average level of carbonation. The body suits the abv and malty flavors well. Not bad for the style; it’s very drinkable.

Overall – Not too bad. The beer is easy to drink, has great price, and has a good flavor without being too high in abv. A good session.

I kinda like this stuff, I'm surprised. Just taking a break after a few heavy-IBU IPA's.

A= deep golden, nice big foamy white head, lots of lacing, some rimming.

S= interesting-- nice musty sweet malts, and notes of something like berry & watermelon.

T= slightly crisp, slightly to the watery side of average but very nice-- sweet malts, slightly grassy; lingering berry watermelon notes. Typical English hops in modest but balanced amount.

M= minimally astringent on tongue, with the lingering malts and berry-watermelon notes or whatever.

O= interesting offering, a decent blonde, more creative than many in the micro craft realm, surprisingly.

Brilliant gold with a finger and a half of pebbly white head. Good retention. Rings of lace at every gulp. It's a pretty beer, at least.

Deep, biscuity malt, some caramel, hay-like hops.

Again, sweet malt with some hay-like hops.

Medium-heavy with ample carbonation.

A simple, quaffable ale. Nothing too spectacular, but then again, it isn't trying to be.

A: pours super light blonde, white head, small bubbles some lacing on glass, plenty of clarity

S: nose has sour grain smell, musty hops, and lemon. Something doesn't smell right...

T: taste matches the nose spot on, there is a weird grainy must that comes through with sharp hop character. Terrible balance.

MF: sharp, high carbonation, light body

O: not that great, not worth trying.. too many other better things available to settle with this.

12 fl oz brown glass bottle served in a snifter, reviewed live:

A - Pours a murky copper orange color, with a thin just off-white head that's a finger tall. Retention is average. Pretty generic.

S - Crystal malt and some generic floral hops notes make up the majority of the nose. There's a light toasty notes. Seems well balanced, though a bit underwhelming.

T - Really simple, though it's balanced. Really the only notes present are your basic pale/caramel malt and the generic hops. It's hard to really find anything else going on. It's mild and a bit watery.

M - Coarse, and light bodied. Good given the style.

D - It's just too simple to be very good. It's o.k. Nothing more, nothing less.
