Served on-tap at Blarney's, Willimantic, Conn.
A: Poured a medium amber with an off-white, one-finger head of foam. Some lazy carbonation and weak lacing were present.
S: Smells sort of sweet with a little bit of hop in the nose. Not quite bready, but more like a sweetened breakfast cereal.
T: Doesn't particularly taste like a brown ale at all, more like a semi-sweet, honey flavored ale. The sweetness and malt definitely pushes this brew into the ale category, but there's nothing indicative of it being a brown.
M: Slightly sticky and relatively refreshing. Not too complicated, but that works for this brew.
D: The low ABV and what I'm sure is a low retail price would make this more attractive than some other micros, but would probably only get in a pinch/for economical reasons.
J.W. Dundee's has always seemed like a macro among micros, but their gold standard in my opinion has always been the Honey Brown. Not too bad, but not impressive enough to keep on hand.

Purchased from one of the local grocery stores.
A: Clear amber with decent head and retention.
S: Balanced malt and hop with little bit of the honey.
T: More malt than hop with some sweetness.
M: Smooth with decent carbonation. Maybe a tad watery.
O: Not bad. I like the addition of the honey. You could do worse.

This beer is refreshing and balanced. Honey brown has a sweet malt flavor with seemingly no hops to taste. You get a sweet malt flavor at the front of the tongue with a pleasant mild honey aftertaste. The two different sweet characteristics makes you want to take another sip. The beer is easy to drink and an excellent choice on a hot summer day or night. Since there is no bitterness to this beer, it is an excellent recommendation to friends who are used to drinking typical American lagers.
