Lots of bourbon and smoke. I didn't get much chocolate, but it is 5 years aged so I think that probably faded some. It's a good beer, but I wouldn't put this in the top tier that the rating suggests. Prost!

Thanks to HOPTOMIC_BOMB for this 22 oz. bottle which has, inexplicably, been sitting in the fridge for a couple of months. Why? Chocolate? Bourbon? Stout? TRIPLE_CHOCOLATE? Split with my wife.
The pour is black & frightening. The slight head fizzes like Alka-Seltzer, & vanishes before I can even set the bottle down. I’ve had infected stouts that sounded just like that, & my wife could hear it ten feet away. Nose is all chocolate, no funk. That’s a fine sign, right there.
Last Rites reminds me that there needs to be some innovation in the candy industry. Bourbon Hershey’s? Gin Peppermint Patty? Oooh, Tequila Kit Kat. Back to the beer: this is pure chocolate, & the real thing, not the sickly sweet nonsense that brewers sometimes try to pass off as “chocolate”. Wonderful chocolate penetration is backed by a lovely kick of bourbon, vanilla leaning into white chocolate, heavy cream, with a surprisingly light touch of heat considering the 16% ABV. Smooth, thick, silky sipper. If one failed to see the ABV on the label, one might end up face down in the shag. And not in a good way.
Bloody hell. I have no idea why I traded for this beer, other than it I really wanted the Huna that the BOMB was offering up, &, well, chocolate. Glad I did. Excellent beer that is kicking at the glass ceiling of the elite.

So much chocolate and booze. This is very good, and flying way under the radar.
