1723rd Review on BA
Bottle to Woodshop Snifter
22oz

Shared at Herbies party, not sure by who.

App- This was along the lines of please excuse me, A pee yellow after being a bit dehydrated. A good amount of yellows and golds. Really no head to speak of. More just a 1/8" of bubbles around the edges.

Smell- I was hoping for some diamond in the rough IPA from So.Cal. Not so much. More pure malts in the glass with a slightly earthy and grainy nose with some butter behind it.

Taste- This one was just better than average and really didnt do all that much for me. A slightly off grainy flavor with some grass clippings and a little unbalanced hops to it. A slightly buttery hop flavor as well.

Mouth- A slightly dense medium body with a medium carbonation. Way too grainy and grassy without a balance. A bit of buttery hops and grass clippings remain.

Drink- Better than average, but would have to have this on tap vs. bottle next time.

Hands down the best brewery in Temecula and one of the best in a large radius! Everything they do is fantastic! The Ballast Point pedigree is apparent yet, like with a son and his father, eventually the apprentice becomes the master! This is a phenomenal IPA! A seamless blend of several hop varieties makes for a crisp, dry, piney, citrusy bomb that you would never suspect came from a year-old brewery! There's a reason these guys are blowing up and a reason they have an absurdly loyal following!

Good solid IPA. A little malty for my taste.

Poured into a flute glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a thin white head that dissipates to a ring around the glass leaving slight lacing. Aroma of citrus and piney hops, grapefruit, faint biscuit malt. Flavor is very hop forward; grassy, herbal and citrus hops. Light biscuit malt body that supports the hops surprisingly well. Finish is somewhat dry with a long, lingering herbal hop finish. Medium bodied with hints of creaminess. I usually don't like light malt body in my IPAs, but 51/50, which is very up front about the malt taking the back seat, seems to be designed around this and I really enjoyed this IPA. A very nice balance of hops that stand on their own. It's a sign of a good brewery when they can make you enjoy a style that you are normally not excited about. I'll check out their other ales.
