Poured into my Alaskan 25 year tulip glass, not sure when it was bottled. Pours pitch black with a two inch brown head, that slowly settles into a thick layer of foam and covers the sides with thick lace. Smell is roasted expresso, vanilla, honey, some tobacco, little smoke, and molasses. Taste is really complex, everything from the nose, roasted expresso is the main event. The body is medium large, perfect amount of life, on the dry side, and hard to sip because it is complex and delicious. I am impressed and depressed! Beer on the wall was supposed to send 2 and either they ran out or forgot to put in the second:(

Wow there are some big beers coming out of Temecula! I first had the privilege of trying Black Market's Black Hole Sun now I get to try Vicious Disposition from Ironfire. Another big black beer, lots of big flavors and roasted aromas. Not quite as big as Black Hole Sun but still not for the little guys.
The addition of avocado honey adds a nice little twist and flavor to this great beer.

Black color in the glass with a modest head. Tastes seriously of alcohol. Then that brutal dregs of the coffee urn taste takes over.
Huge and harsh slash of wood. So bitter as to be nearly undrinkable. This is like some kind of sludge from the flooded basement with pine smoke pouring in from the chimney fire. If there is malt and hops I leave it to others to try to taste them. I can't imagine what is going on in the brewery, but I guess it's the "too much is never enough" school. IBU is 71 according to the stats, with avocado honey as the surprise ingredient.
I also tried the cask version made with Crown Royal oak chips. You get a temporary reprieve with the sweet, boozy flavor but only for a while. On tap at Local Habit along with the IPA, Outcast Dead Red, an eye-watering stout, and the best of the bunch, the Synner Pale Ale.
I have to add that a beertender at Slater's 50/50 said he loved this stuff, so hopologists may take this review as a total recommendation.
