Has a citrus scent. Medium malt taste with a slight boozy taste. Doesn't taste hoppy enough. More bitter than hoppy. This sort of tastes like stone ipa (152 characters)

On tap at Ironfire's tasting room. Wasn't super impressed. The bitterness was there but the hop flavor wasn't as desirable as I expected. Try their Devil Within DIPA, much better. (181 characters)

Picked up a bomber from Holiday Wine Cellars in early September for $8.49.

Beer poured a fine clear golden with a nice white head that is hanging around pretty well.

Nose is a nice blast of floral hops.

Taste is pine and citrus that melds well with a clean malt bill.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and nicely carbonated.

Overall this is a very nice brew that is worthy of a shot if you come across it. (412 characters)

After enjoying the 51/50 I had to try this one and was not disappointed!! This was an excellent DIPA, better than many others I've tried! The hop bite was just right (for me anyway), and a nice citrus aftertaste with only a hint of alcohol, nicely hiding the 9% abv. This bad boy puts Temecula firmly on the SoCal brewing scene map!! (333 characters)

A - poured crystal clear out of a bomber. Very thin white head that did stick to the glass. The color is a very, very light gold.

S - Exactly what I want to smell in DIPA, lots and lots of hops. Orange zest and a little pine.

T - Very dry up front. Not much bite for a DIPA, very smooth. Hops dominate the flavor, but there is definitely more malts in there than I was expecting.

M - Very dry with lots of carbonation. Medium bodied. Doesn't hang on your tongue like a lot of hoppy brews.

O - Very drinkable but not really my cup of tea. Might be a good DIPA for someone not really into hoppy beers. I prefer mine to have a little more hop bite. (651 characters)

22oz Bomber – FW Snifter glass
*Notes from 05/19/13

A: Dark caramel color approaching amber with mostly decent clarity. Just a soft hazing to the body there. Thin rim of off-white foam with some rather mild retention efforts and faint sticky waves of lace left behind on the glass.

S: Big pine and floral aromas emanate with some light fruity undertones of grapefruit zest and pineapple flesh. There is a touch of sweet pale malts there and just a whisper of booze detected to an otherwise nice and hoppy floral nose.

T: Fruity hops burst with more grapefruit and pineapple flavors and there is a firm pine resin presence all throughout. The beer finishes with more of a floral component. Modest malt character adds a balancing sweetness to the beer with a dash of caramels. Taste is juicy but not incredibly bitter on the palate and the alcohol is pretty well disguised compared to the nose. Decent DIPA here but lacks a bit of focus perhaps. Kind of a letdown compared to the 51/50.

M: Thinner body that is almost watery at times. Light creaminess provided by the carbonation. Decent drying efforts and a bit of resinous linger. Finishes is on the wetter side in the end.

D: Overall a decent DIPA but I much preferred the single 51/50 IPA to this. Has some nice hop action however flavors start to get a little muddled for me. Would like to try fresh off draught but probably won’t go seeking this one out again. (1,425 characters)

Hands down the best brewery in Temecula and one of the best in a large radius! Everything they do is fantastic! The Ballast Point pedigree is apparent yet, like with a son and his father, eventually the apprentice becomes the master! This is a phenomenal DIPA! One that deserves to share ratings space with Pliny, et al. A seamless blend of several hop varieties makes for a crisp, dry, piney, citrusy 9% bomb that you would never suspect came from a year-old brewery! There's a reason these guys are blowing up and a reason they have an absurdly loyal following! (563 characters)

On-tap at 38 Degrees in Alhambra. Thanks for the generous sample Clay! On to the beer:

This one is golden orange with a solid blanket of head retention which leaves some strings of lace around. The aroma is citrus inspired, with orange and grapefruit at the front of the pack. Citrus fun in a glass; the taste of mangoes and citrus hits and pleases the palate. To compliment is vague pepper and a little resin to remind you that this is beer and not a tropcial fruit juice. Its body is "only" medium full, a little lighter than I anticipated, but that small critique doesn't get in the way of this delectable beer.

Having had success with 51/50, I had confidence that I would like their stronger version. I did, and it's worth a try. (740 characters)
