Half full ipa. Served on tap at Coalhouse Pizza in Stamford.

Pours a Medium dark amber. Pine nose. Citrus too. Nice Juicy IPA . Full flavored hop malt. Bitter hangs around and drives flavor. Well balanced all around. Real good. 375 375 425 4 4

Actually, a Rye India Pale Ale.
Description (from halffullbrewery.com): An approachable IPA that provides an adventurous experience from start to finish. This medium-bodied beer has earthy notes, a piney and spicey hop character, moderate bitterness, and a dry rye finish that conceals it’s high alcohol content. The perfect balanced IPA for a true “hop head” or newly minted crafted beer drinker who is looking to explore!
Brewed with:
Rye, Wheat, Special B, Brewers Two-Row, Pale Malts
Magnum, Columbus, Cascade Hops
40 IBUs.

On tap at Backstage EDL in Torrington, CT.

Beautiful dark golden/copper color with think white head. Slightly hazy.

Aroma is piney, earthy, even some malt in the nose, nicely balanced.

Taste is hoppy right off the bat. But not super abrasive. I get pine, and some 'forest floor' earthiness going on balanced by a decent amount of malt. Not like an English IPA, but just done really well so you know it's an American IPA with a nice hop presence. I didn't know it had rye in it until checking the website. I could not detect it.

Overall, nice mouthfeel that isn't too rich or creamy, but just right and somewhat lip smacking.

This came on tap for the first time at The Bull's Bridge Inn, up in my neck of the woods, in the NW Corner of CT. Had a meeting there last night and gave it a try. Very pleasantly surprised! So often a new brewery will load an IPA with hops, and all you taste is the bitterness. Half Full's IPA actually had a great citrusy aroma and taste, and the beer itself was not overly bitter. I enjoyed so much that ended up having 3 pints. I look forward to trying some of their other offerings in the near future.

A-Pours a relatively clear golden-orange. Thinner, bleached head of tight bubbles. Moderate lace.

S-The necessary elements are there but it lacks depth. Citrus with a wavering grassy note. A gritty earthen note which clings to a light malt backing of crackers.

T-Hops are spicy and citric with a grassy finish. Pretty balanced with sweet dough and cracker maltiness. There is some zest I attribute to the rye.

M-It drank easy. Modest bitterness. No obvious flaws in body or bubbles.

O/D-I had no gripes about this beer. It was worthy of a glass. Hey, maybe I'd get it again someday.

Oh man, I've had some nights where the Half Full IPA is the end of me. It's deceptively drinkable, hiding that IPA alcohol content behind citrusy hops, a nice smooth doughy malt, and subtle but pleasing bitterness. I'm not an IPA guy typically, but this is change I can believe in.
