Petoskey Brewing, where do we start?!?

I'm reading some of the reviews below, and I'm going to piggy back on atone's (Nicks) notes...We stopped in and got 6 pours of beers, of course two were the barrel aged beers. When arriving at the table, by appearance, we had a very hard time determining which beer was the Impy Stout and which was the BW. Obviously after some further investigation it was fairly easy enough to tell...Neither the BB BW or BB Impy Stout stood out to us. The one beer that really stood out was the Imperial Pislner. Very clean tasting beer, and clocked in at a good 9% ABV. Good work on that one.

The atmosphere on this day was very interesting. As Nick also noted, the servers didn't really appear to give two shits. Now, I know you're up in Northern Michigan...I know it's hard to find people to work for you that give two shits about their job...but it's all about breeding that culture into your staff, and I feel like they lacked it. Short's has it, why can't you and other local breweries?
There were many many TV's turned on, all of which were showing the Michigan vs. Ohio State football game. Now I'm a football fan, but out of our group of 4, I was the only one. The other three took note of the poor atmosphere due to the fact that everyone in the pub was glued to a TV, with no emotional contact with each other. The beer was very much an after thought, at least on this day.

I liked having the back room sort of separate from the pub. I thought the taproom was a good size, and good use of space.

Had a Oktoberfest on Tap. Bartender stated they use artesian water it has a nice finish to it!
Food was only light offerings. Service was great with the first bartender, each glass is rinsed before the beer from the tap is drawn? ...Shift change next bartender so-so? Neat Brewery well worth the visit. The art work on the chalkboard was outstanding!
The flavor is a very good mix of malts, drinkable and well worth repeat tastes. Also tried "Horny Monk" this was smooth with a great finish by far a better choice!

Stopped here 10-8-13 during a week long vacation to the Traverse City area. The building this brewery is housed in is IMPRESSIVE!!! 4 stories tall, and only 30' deep, make it a very unique building. According to the story on the menu, it was a brewery at the turn of the 20th century and has been a bunch of different businesses since then...once again becoming a brewery in 2012.

We walked in, and took a couple of seats at the bar. First thing we noticed, it was cold in there!! 60 degree Fall day and they had the AC on. No big deal but other patrons did say something to the staff and they didn't seem to care and/or do anything about it. In fact, my wife and I noticed that the staff didn't really seem to care much about anything. 5-10 minutes after we ordered our appetizer of pretzels and dipping sauces (absolutely delicious!!!) they were sent to the bartender. He had a very (stoned?) confused look on his face and after 1-2 minutes of contemplating, asked us if we ordered them. Why yes, didn't you take our order???

The beer selection was decent, half a dozen standard brews on tap, 2 barrel aged offerings, and 1 cider. My wife got 4oz pours of their standard brews, plus the cider. I got 8oz pours of the 2 barrel aged beers, an Imperial Stout and a Barleywine. The Barleywine came 2nd, along with some dribble from the bartender as to why Barleywines are called as such...I was more curious why my B-wine was black as a night sky! Left me wondering if he even poured me the correct beer! The other offerings were par for course, nothing exciting.

Overall, cool place in a cool location. Service, for the most part, was ok. In all honesty, I can accept average beer if excellent service comes with it. Unfortunately, I have read that everybody that works here seems bored...I cannot agree more.

good beers I like monk myself as most beers are rated on the bitter scale this one was just right. Great dark beers, good service and a comfortable atmosphere. I am looking forward to the summer on the back deck over looking Spring Lake. We have not tried the sliders yet and they have pints to go. Thge bike path runs right up to the front and back door. This will be my fav place to ride my bike to, that is for sure.
