I hit this place from reccomendations from BA.

It would seem that this is the place to find good beer in Albany. Huge selections or imports (Mikkeller, Dues, etc) and local stuff (long trail, Brown's, etc.). I was impressed by their cider and perry selections.

However, most of all the craft beers were out at room temp. under lights all day. The bottles were dusty and they didn't seem to have any logic behind the stocking. Beers such as Dogfishhead were next to Long trail and Tremens was next to the soda. I would have liked to seen the budwieser on the floor instead of Chimay.

Nobody approached me while shopping, but upon check out, the guy insisted that I have a local winter beer to "check out." Which was nice, and it tasted good...but I figured they were just trying to unload it. =) I also asked about Catptain Lawarence, and he didn't know what kind of beeer that was...so not the most knowledgable.

Overall, it would seem this is the place to get craft beer in Albany. Just spend some time and look through all 3 huge rows to find what you need.

Oliver's is my go-to beverage center! The entire staff is extremely helpful and they always have a huge selection suitable for any beer drinker. I bought a bottle of Green Flash Le Freak the other day that was uncarbonated for some reason, and they were very quick to exchange it for me, no questions asked. I tell everyone I know about Oliver's, now I'm telling you all. You will lose track of time just trying to take everything in.

This place is the real deal. Not the prettiest store but lots of quality beer. Beers are arranged by state, it's a big enough place to do that. Some coolers around the perimeter but we're here for long aisles in the center of the store stacked with beer as high as I could reach.
The girl checking me out saw all the IPA's I had and suggested I try a Space Dust IPA from Elysian Brewing. Great call. I never would have tried it and it was first rate.

Yes this place is not all that aesthetically pleasing, but honestly who's here to look at the architecture?! These guys carry a hell of a lot of craft beer, some of which I had only previously heard of in stories from friends. I'm not a massive craft beer guy...that is until fall season when I attempt to try as many pumpkin beers as possible (Bumpin Pumpkin Beer). Oliver's has been an invaluable resource for seasonal, and rotating, options. They've also been extraordinarily accommodating in recommending pumpkin beers as well as allowing for a little bit of counter swag advertising for my blog. I'm not sure there's a beer these guys DON'T carry. Definitely check them out!

Incredible selection of beers and a helpful/knowledgeable staff. The quarter point demerit is for appearance, since the building and shelving seem pretty old and not attractive aesthetically. That being said, everything is well organized and easy to find. There is always a great variety on the growler taps, with something to suit everyone's needs. I make it a point to stop into Oliver's every time I'm in the Albany area.

This place is great. Knowledgeable and very helpful staff. But the real reason to stop by is the selection. I live in the dc area, which is only a couple states away, so I was skeptical that I'd find beers that aren't distributed in my area. I was wrong. I found so much stuff I had to put beers back to stay on budget (I was on my way back from Vermont so funds...and space in my car was limited) and still walked out with 18 different bombers and 6/4 packs.

Looks small from the outside. But once I walked in, I was surprised on how big it actually was. They have a lot of variety. A very good selection. The staff was pleasant and helpful. There is a growler station. Didn't notice the price for them though. Good selection on them also. Plenty of cooler space. Prices seemed standard. Will be going here again and again.

Doesn't look like much on the outside (or inside, really, kind of a dingy place) but a truly outstanding selection.

About 4 long aisles full of craft beer of all kinds. Not just the regular options either- I was able to snag some Even More Jesus, Allagash Curieux, and Peche Mortel, which I hadn't yet seen up to that point. The place is a bit disorganized, and a bit shabby cleanliness-wise, and has a old warehouse feel to it. That doesn't detract from the incredible selection.

Can't comment too much on service since I didn't receive any- nobody was walking around helping anybody with selections. The prices were in line with what I expect, not cheap, but not crazy. There's a growler station with about 10 tap lines.

Worth the stop, and better than its sister store Westmere Beverage.

*Edit
Went again, and the service was great. Very helpful when asked about when certain beers would be arriving. Changed the rating to 4.25
