Poured into a 16 oz. goblet. A gorgeous, deep golden color. Very little head, and what there was didn’t last long. Very little visual evidence of carbonation. An unusually strong smell of malted barley and Saaz hops. I could actually smell it at arms length in the bottle before I poured it! Taste is very sweet with a hint of sour after the swallow. I kept waiting for that strong hop bitterness that my nose detected earlier, but it was subtle and came on gradually. More complex than the better-known Czech pilsners that I’m used to drinking. Soft carbonation. Smooth, with a heavier body than I expected. Not very bitter, but what there is stays with you a long time. There’s a thick, buttery feel on the tongue long after the glass is empty. I’ve always loved Czech pilsners and I think I’ll be calling this one my favorite, at least for now. Easy drinking but with some complexity as well!

appearance - 4/5 - Pours with a small stark white head. It's color is read-through transparent golden. The head disappears quickly.

smell - 3/5 - Smells of dough and earthy hops.

taste - 3.5/5 - Very bready and earthy hoppy. It's just like the smell but magnified. The hops have kind of a floral & earthy spiciness.

mouthfeel - 4/5 - A little high on the carbonation, but not too much. Hops flavor lingers and coats the mouth.

overall - 4/5 - Not a bad pilsener that is well supported by it's hops. Not the best Czech beer I've had and not the worst.

A: Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a thin white head. The head dissipates quickly leaving a thin ring of bubbles around the edges of the glass. The beer contains lots of particulates and had moderate amounts of lacing.

S: Aromas of bready malts with grassy hops and the slightest hint of skunkiness. As the beer warmed, there were also hints of honey and lemon.

T: Flavors were nice and malty - primarily bready malts with just a hint of bitterness on the finish from the grassy hops.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

O: Easy to drink and quite sessionable, I enjoyed this one and will likely have it again. It paired very nicely with some spicy food (hot wings) because of the resfreshing flavor.

look: 2.5 | smell: 2.5 | taste: 2.5 | feel: 3 | overall: 2.5

11.1oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

Appearance is a slightly hazy light gold. A white head is quick to fade leaving a ring around the top of the beer. No lacing at all.

Smell is kind of dirty. Grassy hops are present but above that is an odd malt scent that is not quite caramel or roasted but just smells like dirt.

The flavor continues this odd caramel/roasted/dirty malt flavor along with the grassy hops. The beer is a little too sweet and the bitterness not quite enough. Mouthfeel is good, though.

Overall a somewhat lackluster example of a czech pils. I doubt I will get it again.

Appearance - Pours a pale golden color with a small head that disappears quickly. This beer is unfiltered.

Smell - Not much to the smell.. kinda skunky and like grass.

Taste - It also tastes pretty skunky. I can't really point out any other flavors. Mostly floral. A slight bitter aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Medium body with light carbonation.

Overall - I like this beer. It's nothing out of the ordinary but it tastes good.

Medium white head quickly settles into a decent lacing above a clear honey golden colored beer.

Big skunky sour aroma.

A big sour hops taste, seems like a lot of beers that come in green bottles are very much like this, sour aroma, sour taste, and sour aftertaste.

Same ol' green bottle beer, I go get something in a brown bottle if you don't mind.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3

Pours a fairly pale golden color with a rather large head - around 4cm - that's a pale white in color. Body is transparent, with very active carbonation that supports the head as I finish the beer. No noticeable lacing along glass. I don't see any of the yeast floaties that other reviewers have mentioned.

Smell is a little malt sweetness, a little buttery, and a little...cat food? Seriously, I use cat food for feeding research insects, and the scent is definitely in here, too. Overall, a fairly unimpressive aroma coming from this.

This is a fairly malty lager, with plenty of malt sweetness upfront, bordering on cloying, especially for a lager. This transitions fairly cleanly to pleasant flowery/herbal hop flavor, definitely European in origin though I don't know the particular cultivar. Aftertaste is primarily of hop bitters. Post-malt, things are primarily crisp and refreshing on the palate.

Mouthfeel is fairly light to light-medium, perhaps a little too carbonated for my preference, making the beer foam up a bit too much in the mouth, but still fine for the style. Finish is dry, as expected per the style.

A fairly satisfying Pilsener, fairly true to the style, but with a few rough edges remaining. Still, quite drinkable and sessionable, could be good for summer.

Overall a very average beer which does not really invite to drink it again.

I poured this beer in my Struise glass. The last beer of this country had troubles getting a head and so was this one. Only a strong pour in the glass gives the beer a white head. Very little carbonation. A light skunky smell and dito taste. Somewhat dry,

This beer is drinkable but not more than that. The used hops are not the hops we like in Europe. The Germans do a better job.

From notes

A - Chunks. Gold body. No head.

S - sweet honey and malt.

T - dry, some depth from malts.

M - the beer has a medium body, nothing interesting.

D - I hated drinking this. It didn't taste terrible, didn't smell very bad, but the ridiculous chunks and globs of yeast and whatever else that were floating around in this beer make thinking about drinking it very unpleasant and the actual act of drinking it even worse. Every time I would take a sip, I would close my lips around the glass as much as possible and cringe when a chunk would meet my lips. As reasonable as this beer may have been, I hated every second of drinking it.

Pours clear and orangish with chunks... lots of chunks... of weird gross things floating around
Smells like a real solid pilsner. Sweet and a hint of hops. Very nice on the nose
Tastes a bit bitter and lagery. There is some real yeastiness to it that overpowers everything. The malt profile is subtle and heavily sweet. Caramel and maybe some hints of crystal. Not bad overall taste. The mouthfeel is okay but the chunks are gross... Overall... okay but not good

A: The beer is clear deep yellow in color and poured with a thin white head that quickly faded away and left lacy patterns of bubbles on the surface. A moderate amount of carbonation is visible from the rising bubbles.
S: There are moderate aromas of bready malts in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste is very malty and has some hints of bitterness from the hops.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and very smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
D: The beer is very easy to drink and quite sessionable - although it's very malty the beer isn't overly filling. I would definitely try this again because of its strong malty flavor.

Golden blonde color, beautiful foam, creamy and compact, sticky and persistent.
Malty smell, but not too fresh.
Better in the mouth, with malty notes, cereals, and freshness, and a good balancing hop.
Low carbonation for a better drinkability.
Decent taste, light body, average aftertaste.
There are better czech pils.

Poured into a Pokal.

A: Hazy gold with little visible carbonation. A rocky off-white cap starts big and slowly settles to a thin blanket of foam. Leaves bits and pieces of lace.

S: Slightly musty. Straw and honey really stick out. A light whiff of grassy hops provides balance.

T: The sweet aromas from the nose carry into the flavor nicely. Bitterness is low, but balanced. It provides a pepper and lemon bite. Finishes rather clean, with just a bit of lingering bitterness. The complexity grows as the beer warms.

M: The medium body feels a bit thick for this style. The carbonation is right where it should be.

D: This is a nice and light beer that suits the warm night I drank it on. It's well balanced and offers some nice subtleties that emerge over time. A very nice Pils.

A - Pours a clear, dark yellow color with very little head formation.

S - Fresh cut grass, corn, and virtually no hops.

T - The taste is almost all malt. Mostly pale malt with a little earthy flavor. Others are mentioning hops, I am getting none of that.

M - Light, almost to the point of being watery.

D - Although this isn't going to set my world on fire, it's pretty drinkable. It would be a good pairing for a BBQ and some warm weather.

look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3

Pours deep gold with a thin white head. Some bubbles, no lacing. Really nice deep gold color.

Light grassy sweetness in the malt, some bitter leafy aromas.

Sweet malt with some herbal bitterness. The hop bitterness has a nice bite, but is not really defined. Sweetness of the grain and malt comes up in the end. Fairly clean finish. Ok, but missing some elements. Not super crisp, not great balance.

Lighter bodied. Wish it had more carbonation -- a little cloying.

Overall, not bad, but there are far better versions out there. It went down ok.

Presentation: 16.9 ounce bottle.

Look: Dark golden color. Moderate head.

Smell: The smell isn't that strong. But it has a nice hops scent.

Taste: It tastes good. It's got a nice bitter sharp taste. Very typical of this style of Czech brew.

Mouthfeel: It's very smooth in the mouth. It feels very creamy on the palate.

Drinkability. It goes down very well for a beer with such a sharp flavor. I drank this beer a lot faster than I realized. It's one of the most drinkable beers i have had.

Notes: I think I'm giving this beer a high score because it's over 100 degrees right now hahaha. But it's a good flavorful pilsner, and it is easy to drink.

Poured from a green 16.9 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a small head. Smell is a bit skunky. Taste is crisp, malats, finishing bitter, not a whole lot of flavor. Feels light in the mouth and has average drinkability. Overall this is a fairly mediocre beer.

500ml brown bottle, no date.

Pours a hazy gold with a huge amount of floaties, the only light lager I have had like this was Weihenstephaner Original. It seemed more appetizing in the Weihenstephaner.

Smells alright, mostly malt, I'm assuming this bottle is probably over a year old, the hops have faded.

The taste still has some hop bitterness, along with a bit of malt and some metallic flavor.

It is an average beer.

A - Straw yellow with a fizzy white head that quickly shrinks to a hazy veil over the beer.

S - The smell is grainy, a tad sweaty and a bit metallic-skunky.

T - The taste is very muted, mostly clean pale malt colored with the flavors of the skunky, sweaty bohemian hop.

M - The beer is quite thin, almost watery, but it is smooth, crisp and refreshing.

D - While this beer is far from fantastic, its drinkability is not so. Basically, this is a great contender for das boot, or any vessel over one liter.

Pours a nice golden color with a thin one-finger head into my glass. Not bad.

Aroma is full of sweet, grainy malt. Not much else seems to be present. Must be the fact that it's in a green bottle?

Taste is once again full of sweet and grainy malt. Just a tad bit of hops. Simple and it goes down well.

Mouthfeel is full of the lingering sweet, grainy malt. Not much else. Feels well fleshed-out but otherwise, it's nothing too impressive.

It's no wonder that A-B has fought with this brewery for decades over trademark issues. I can see that A-B likely fears a beer that seems more drinkable than the American Budweiser.

Served at fridge temperature in the Sam Adams BL glass for optimum performance. 11.1oz bottle, no freshness date.

Appearance- Pours a light to medium gold, and with a rough pour we get about two fingers worth of foam. It settles gradually to a sporadic rim, and leaves behind a few strips of lacing.

Smell- One of the most pungent, vegetal sweetnesses I've recently encountered eminates from the glass... it's loaded with cereal and what seems to be stale hops. There isn't anything on this bottle that indicates a brew date, so I'm not 100% sure if this is fresh or not.

Taste- Behind the clean, simple palate lies a husky sweetness that overpowers the delicate balance of malt and hops. The finish leaves behind more of the sweet, vegetal notes and it's hard for me to appreciate any real elegance here.

Mouthfeel/Drinkability- Average at best, the carbonation feels right at first... but a half hour into this tasting it begins to really flatten out. Flabby for the style, it doesn't qualify for me as a worthwhile food beer either. Again, I have no way of knowing the bottling date.

B.B. Burgerbrau pours an orange color with a white head from a green 11.1 ounce bottle. The aroma is a mostly spicy hops and surprisingly doesn't seem to be skunky. Spicy hops are also noticeable in the flavor and the malt flavor is solid if mostly in the background. A nice light pils. Worth a try.

Nose is of malt and rich nuts like cashews. Taste is similar with big malts up front transitioning to floral and then drying in the finish with mild hop bite. Mouthfeel is generous and given the style how could it not score high on drinkability.
Let's have more beers like these imported and brewed in the US.

Thanks

B.B. Bürgerbräu is a crystal clear golden lager with a small white head that dissipates. It has a soft, grassy, fruity aroma that's slightly sweet. It's light and very smooth and the finish is clean and crisp. It's has a very light sweetness and very light bitterness with a grassy, grainy flavor that leaves no aftertaste. It's a real quaffer.

I had out of a 12 ounce bottle.
A- Average dull gold color with a limited head and little lacing.
S- Has a decent, bitter wheat scent to it.
T- Kind of a fruity pilsner. I'm not sure, but there's like an appleish taste in there. I would not prefer this over most Czech Pilsners, but this is definitely quality.
