Poured a clear golden color with a generous head, minimal lacing. Smelled of pilsner malt and hops. Taste was clean and refreshing, but somewhat sweet for a pilsner I thought. Not as dry a finish as some. Mouthfeel was average for this style, and drinkablity was good, very smooth and easy to drink.

On-tap at Tap and Table for $5/pint. This is a tasty and fresh Czech pilsener - something that's hard to some by. A lot of alleged Czech pils are really just bland macro lagers. There's a smooth, dry bready malt taste and the pils finishes with a mildly bitter spicy hop taste. Very nice and very refreshing. Pils-lovers should seek this out.

The color is medium gold, couldn't work a head during the pour.
There was barely any smell at all. The taste is smooth and lightly fruity, no hop taste at all. Smooth feel goes down real easy. This is a very easy drinking beer. It gets better the more you drink.

A rather dry Pils...not much of a hop profile, predominantly dry and even a bit straw like. Head retention and lace are favorable but smell is a bit sour for the style, under my understanding. Keg code is current (July 11th 2009 expiration). An in code Pils should not have sour notes. But, in this case its actually quite refreshing. Its hot and muggy outside. It fits. But, if I were more objective, I would see this flaw in a more negative sense. Clean finishing makes it a great summer thirst quencher.

The beer pours a nice gold color with a thick frothy white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is average. It has a dry, pilsner malt scent with little hop aroma. It has an all malt scent. The taste is decent. It has a smooth, pilsner malt flavor that goes down easy and finishes dry with next to no bitterness. The mouthfeel is decent. It is a low/medium bodied beer with a little less than adequate carbonation. This is a pretty good drinking lager. It was hoping for more hop character, but all in all, not bad.

A - Pours a very clear, yellow/ gold color with a one inch white head that dissipates very quickly to a thin ring, leaving moderate lacing on the glass.

S - Malty and spicy hops.

T - Initital smooth malt palate, finishes with spicy note and nice moderate bitterness.

M - Smooth and thin. Initial mild bite that mellows with time. Seems flat.

D - Drinkable, but no more than average.

Overall - The bottle I have may be old? I cannot find a 'best by' or production date on it. It seems flat to me. I will try another in the future.

This is good Czech pilsner, tasty with light complexity, and highly drinkable.

Somewhat deep gold, it has a medium, dense white head steadily shrinking to a lasting thin top and it leaves some decent lace.

The aroma is light and somewhat sweet with sweet grain, bread dough, a hint of apple, and herbal, grassy hops.

The taste has a very light, but clean, consistent bready grain-malt backbone with a persistent hint of apple peels, but the herbal-grassy hop flavour and bitterness, clearly dominates without being overly strong. It has a lingering, engaging, lightly bitter herbal finish and aftertaste. It's crisp and lively, lacking the lightly oily, thicker quality of some like Budweiser Budvar.

Well this bottle may be slightly skunked. It has a good appearance with almost one finger of head in my pils glass that subsides quickly. Smell is slightly malty and somewhat grassy. A bouquet of noble or Saaz hops should be out in front rather than a virtual no show. Taste ahh, something is off. Tart and grassy with some malts in the background along with some sour tones at the end, that it!. Overall I'm going try this again and hope that I got a skunked bottle.

A - This one is a peachy sun-gold bronze hue and clear with a two finger head of crisp white foam. Lots of really dusty lace is left on the glass as it recedes to a nice cap. A really attractive beer...it's a shade darker than most pilseners. Sort of in the pale ale or IPA bronze territory.

S - Crisp saltine cracker malt notes, with a heap of sea salt. This smells a lot like a really good big German pretzel with giant salt crystals studded all over it. There is a hint of something more substantial behind the saltine cracker notes...like a slightly roasted malt. This note adds to the pretzel theme. This might sound strange, but there is something reminecent of stale urine...as can be whiffed in any public park bathroom. Oddly, I like that smell here. It somehow works.

T - Tasty pretzel malt notes with tones of salt, but thankfully no urine notes! The hop profile is meaty and aged, and the balance is perfect. This is a wonderfully complex brew.

M - Round, lush, soft, and mineral laden. This has a really nice soft and gentle feeling, and the finish is tasty and neutral. This one is very mild. Could be a good beer to give to a BMC lover to get them started on good beer.

D - Nearly perfect. On a warm late summer afternoon like this one, this hits the spot like no other. This one has session written all over it. I'm just pissed that I only have one bottle!

Thanks to Piwoski for the hook up.

Bright yellow with a light island of foam after the pour and a uniform column of bubbles rising to the top. The aroma is good, clean pilsner malt with just a touch of lemony hops. Very even malts and a lightly inserted hop. A but watery tasting though. The water used was a bit too soft. I think just a touch of mineral dryness would make this pisner much more refreshing. Just the thing after a hard das work on a warm day.

I'm confused whether this is right or not, my beer is in a brown bottle and says original Czech lager.

16.9 fl oz into Pint glass.

Looks really good on pour with a nice 2 finger big bubbly head. Some lacing going on. Honey-clover-toffee aroma, and almost a freshly mown hay smell as well.
Almost a buttery taste with a nice spicy finish that leaves the mouth pleasantly dry. I rated lower above initially, but after the beer warmed on my taste buds this beer is pretty fucking good.
The 3.5 went to a 4.5.
Mouthfeel is a nice medium body.
D: par excellence!

Poured from bottle into a pint glass.
A light, clear yellow tone with a short white head that laces soon after first taste.
Smell is light with the barley present.
Taste is crisp and pleasant, a very nice Czech pilsner.
MF is simple but enjoyable.
BB Burgerbrau is a great name, but a pretty good beer, a solid example of a Czech pilsner.

A: Since 1795. The beer opens with a huge skunky aroma. Packaged in a green bottle no less. It pours a crystal clear light golden color with orange hues and a moderate fluffy white head that dissipated quickly and fully with no visible lacing. There is a furry of heavy visible carbonation.

S: On the nose is a sweet buttery corn malt aroma, hay and a light herbal hopping.

T: The flavor is a bitter-sweet malt palate with some barley and cereal grains for backing. There is a touch of caramel and honeybread as well. The beer finishes with some honey malt sweetness that is well balanced by a soft bittering hop fade

M: The mouthful is light and oily with a nice hop bittering upon warming. The carbonation is actually quite soft on the tongue despite the furious bubbling throughout the course of the entire drink.

D: Overall a decent, clean macro style lager with ok drinkability worthy of a moderate rating.

Pours a mostly clear, golden body with a small offwhite head that leaves some sparse lacing. Aroma is enticing, but simple, with spicy and earthy hops and bready malts. Medium body is bolstered by the malt presence and carbonation is moderate. Sweet bready malts dominate the taste with a subdued hops bittering that is spicy and herbal. Very interesting for a pilsner. Very drinkable, even sessionable.

16.9 fl. oz. bottle drunk in inverted cone pilsner glass.

Appearance--Golden color. Very light carbonation--several thin streams of bubbles. Head dissipated very quickly; almost none retained on side of glass.

Smell--Very pleasant aroma of wheat and a little yeast, opens up as one smells it.

Taste--Quite sweet initial profile. Practically no bitterness whatsoever; closest it comes is a little pleasant sourness around the edge of the tongue that prevents it being cloying. I really can't put my finger on what precisely its taste reminds me of; it's very evanescent, complex and subtle; remains in the mouth a long time--probably the best parallel is a good slice of sourdough. The difficulty of breaking down the taste into components, I think, is a tribute to its brewer. The hops are there, but they lend it body, not bitterness for its own sake. This is what, for me at any rate, a pilsner should be.

Mouthfeel--The lack of carbonation gives it a smooth feel. I'm ambivalent about whether more would have been helpful. It might have made it a livelier glass, or whether it would have pushed it toward soda.

Drinkability--Personally, I could drink this for hours, with or without food (not that I drink more than a glass often, but were I to...). It's a beautifully crafted beer. It's complex without being extreme or challenging, in the manner of good English pale to golden ales. It's definitely not an American beer, at either extreme--the big, brash, bold craft beers (hooray!) or the sweet mass-produced pap of Budweiser/Coors/etc (boo!). If drinking with food, I would have it with sourdough and a hard sheep's cheese.

16.9 oz bottle poured into a pilsener glass.

Dark straw-golden colored brew with a small foamy white head that recedes to a thin ring, little lacing. Very average looking, not bad.

Fresh bottle from the back of the shelf, there is no skunk. Bready malty aroma, faint to no hop scents on the nose.

The flavor has a nice crisp bitterness right up front that carries the bready, yeasty malt right through to a lingering and pleasant finish. Taste is quite good, a good food beer. But a fairly one-dimensional flavor. There is a decent body to the mouthfeel, and it refreshes, but could use a bit more fine carbonation to really bring some crispness.

All in all a well-made pilsener whose strong point is the nice bitter finish. Lack of complexity will keep me from going out of my way to drink more.

16.9 oz. Euro brown bottle,

A: Pours a crystal clear yellow, with a big, billowy white head, nice retention.

S: Smells faintly of Czech hops and bread malt.

T: Pretty good, it's got a nice hop balance, very floral and grassy, with toasty malt, not the best tasting pils in the world but not bad.

M: Light, very light, highly carbonated, fuller than the average lager, dry.

D: A good pils, probably won't buy again, but I liked it and glad I tried it. Would be an easy drinker on a hot summer day.

A. Golden in color with a touch of haze, a small but sturdy white head.

S. Czech malts and spicy hops. Smells almost salty, like a Gose.

T. Light bitterness in finish. Sweet malt. Bread. Grain. Sugary.

M. Light carbonation, light-bodied and watery.

D. Light and easy to drink.

All right, here we go: the pour was hazy straw yellow, just a small white head. But what the hell is up with all these gobs of suspended yeastys? Geez, is that un-appetizing.

Mellow skunk and a load of malted barley, bits of corn, in the aroma. The euro skunk died off after ½ a bottle.

The taste of this pilsner is fine – malted veggies, corn and a rounding bit of doughy bread. Lite bodied, it’s very smooth and finishes sweet.

A bad looking pour, but a quaffable drinking lager. I’d have another

It was one of those warm, sticky Fridays, and I was going to have a nice beer with my lunch - a few of the usual suspects on tap, then I spotted this!

Original Pilsner, served in its appropriate glassware (a tall mug, with the Burgerbrau logo)... nice!

OK, it's malty, but in line with Urquell and Budvar (as well as what I remember about Kumburak). Huge head, nice lace, hops are there, and leave almost a hint of peppery spiciness, but not overly floral. A great start to what looks to be a great rest of the day... :)

B.B. Burgerbrau was a good drinkable beer. It is a smooth beer with a mild hop taste and is nice for a summer day. Mild wheat taste to it, really refreshing. Overall, what one might expect for a basic Czech Pilsner. I'd buy it again. It reminds me of different German Pilsners that I have had before.

Just an average beer here. Very mild grainy aroma that was difficult to really get a sense of as it seemed so faint. Not very crisp, hops are not really present, they seem to show up about half way through the bottle. But still faint. Color is a pale golden color typical of many beers of this style. Very average. I would not shell out import prices for this beer, if it were being served as the only beer at a party or on sale I would give it a go, but I would not go in search of it.

Deep gold..small head that drops to a film quickly in a pilsner glass. Smells mostly of honey and Saaz hops.
Flavor is pretty mild...a lot of raw corn taste...some honey.. dough and cereal. Hops are way in the background.Mouthfeel is medium bodied...carbonation is kind of low. Not as crisp or dry as I expected.
Not bad, but I wouldn't seek this one out.

This was poured into a pilsner flute from the bottle. It has a golden color with a small head that settles quickly. The aroma is malty with no trace of hops. The flavor is faintly malty and very balanced, to the point that there really isn't much taste at all. There's very little hops and it's really clean. There is a slight hop dryness on the finish. It has a medium-light body with high carbonation.

Overall, it's decent enough, but pretty unremarkable. I think the delicate malty has probably declined in storage.
