A 500ml bottle with an best-before date of Oct 2011. The only unusual feature is the white foil seal over the cap.
Poured into a Guinness pint glass. Pours a light golden with fine carbonation. Very little head; what there is disappears rapidly to leave a surface film. Light malty aroma but little else.
Clean and crisp malty taste with light bitterness. Slight grainy sweetness at the back of the throat. Mouthfeel is smooth, but leaves a vaguely unpleasant aftertaste towards the end of the glass.
A fairly refreshing lager, but doesn't distinguish itself. Drinkable; would be nicer in warm weather.

Pours gold with a good sized white head. Recedes rapidly. Lots of floaties. Good amount of lacings. Tastes mildly sweet with a light bitter hop character. Decent lager. Mouthfeel is good for the style. Another good Czech beer if you don't mind the floaties.
Very sessionable. Would love to try this fresh and on tap.

green 33cl bottle with a different label and foil to the one in the picture, but the same beer for sure.
best before 29 Sept 2010, this beer was drank and reviewed on 03 Aug 2010, poured into a small (0.2 litre) tasting glass from Budweiser Budvar.
Looked fine, crisp, clear and bright. The regular pilsner/lager golden yellow colour, with the snow white head on top. The head soon died though, on both pours.
Grains in the smell, but not much else and not many grains either.
Dry and refreshing, a little more hoppy than malty, but not strong tasting in any form or style.
A Mr Average in most aspects and I'll not be putting it on my Christmas list.

A - Poured a dark Coke like color with a small fizzy head that dissipated quickly.
S - Smells like a lot of sugar and something somewhat herbal, almost like a dark tea. I'm not really feeling this.
T - Definately get a lot of sugar and sweetness on this, surprised to find this is only 4.7% as I would have guessed a little higher. A little bitter, and do get some of that tea taste in there.
M - Smooth beer, with some fizz.
D - Just don't like it enough to drink much of it. The sweetness becomes somewhat heavy and a bit much. Not a good beer, but not a completely horible one either.

Appearance: pale tarnished gold, large pillow of off-white foam that slowly compacts to a thin cap, lace
Aroma: not a whole lot; wisps of blossom honey, grain, and perfumey hops
Flavor: mellow pilsner malt with hints of honeydew hop fruitiness; finishes dryish with a lighting lingering bitterness
Mouthfeel: light body, terse carbonation, soft texture
Other comments: I'm always a bit loathe to review pilsners and light lagers because even the great ones are so subtle and balanced that it's hard to pin down descriptive words. It's hard to latch onto the subtle aromas and flavors (at least it is for me).

500 ml bottle from Riga
Pours pale golden with large and persistent head, patchy lacing, looks beautiful. Aroma is mostly herbal hops, some faint malt background.
Taste is a bit dissapointing, simple bittery hops, but there is some kind of weak, but unpleasant sourness to it that produces slight astringency, medium dry finish and light bittery aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light-medium with average carbonation.
Overall, a good looking beer with not that good taste.

Half litre bottle. 4.7% ABV. Tasted 5th Oct 2006 (Best by 28.02.2007). Bottle was foil topped brown glass with red and white label with large numbers 1795 followed by "Original Czech Lager " and "Budejovicke pivo" underneath. Purchased in Molloy's off-licence, Dublin, Ireland.
Poured a clear amber brew with a nice white head that left some lacing on the glass.
Very little smell detected; maybe very light hops.
Tasted pretty bland to be honest, not very much going on, no hop hit and just a little malty sweetness. Fairly refreshing. Nice smooth mouthfeel but overall I would not be over excited by this beer.

500 ml bottle. Clear golden colour, small head that vanishes too soon. Floral smell with some bitterness, can't find much more. Body is too light, in the mouth has some bitterness but also too much sweetness from malts Crispy, refreshing, but it pales when compares to a good czech beer, nothing to do with Urquell or Budweiser. Dissapointing, at least for what I was expecting.

I poured this dead beer into my tumbler at 45 degrees. The beer was headless from the get go. The beer had a golden color that looked great except for the fact it had no head. The smell of this ber was skunky and moldy. The taste was slightly bitter at the end but overall impression was just plain flat tasting. I will not buy again.

Golden color with a thin head with low retention.
Aroma of pale malt, vanilla and grassy hops.
Taste follows nose, sweet malt with notes of grassy hops and a hint of minerals. Mildly dry aftertaste with medium bitterness.
Light body with low carbonation.
Average Czech Pilsner, very light and balanced with no off-flavors but also with no highlights. If this is a mass regular in Czech Republic, they are well served.

Clear, light amber with foamy white, finger sized head. Good retention.
Bit of skunk to start but nothing major, there is an overall sweetness to the beer & a little bit of hops in there too. Isn't an overly strong smelling beer & ranks about average.
Sweet tasting with a mix of corn, bread and mild hops. Not the most complex beer but it works.
Smooth bodied and on the light side of medium, the beer is well carbonated.
Avg. pilsener but not in a bad way, it’s pretty simple but pleasant and very drinkable. Not the best value for what you get as there are plenty of other similar beers out there but it would be one I’d be happy to drink again.
