Pint at Golden Crust.

Opaque pastel yellow orange, tight cap of creamy white foam, lasting skim and intricate rivulet lacing around the edges.

Big wheat and coriander aroma, fresh and floral, almost a daffodil vibe.

Dry and lightly bitter, definitely not on the sweet end of the wit spectrum thankfully. Orange peel bitterness in the aftertaste. Light smooth feel, tasty, clean, and easy drinking. Pleasant and worth a try. Not many local Witbiers, this one I'd recommend if you're a fan of Rev's Bottom Up Wit.

My first beer from yet another brewery in my hometown that I had never heard of it. (Given that this wit first was reviewed four years ago, you catch a glimpse of me .... I'm traditional and am skeptical of many American micros who think they can jump into the Belgian tradition without first knowing that art of yeast.)

This speaks to the only weakness of Snow. This wit lacks the traditional Belgian yeast.
Otherwise, the spicing and ingredients are all recognizable and integrated.
While some would say I prefer flatter beers, Snow suits my Feel.
If Lake Effect wants to improve this beer -- and get to BA's threshold of 10 ratings -- they should consider the larger market more and liven up this yeast and its bubbles.
I had Snow with my world-famous garlicky vegetable soup, and it was not a good pairing. This Wit is mostly about refreshment and, in the winter, this was not what I needed. I will try it again in summer.

2/11/23 Almost 6 years later, I tried Snow again this winter and it (the wit and winter) is improved. Snow did improve its bubbles; and its Tastes seem even better integrated. Most importantly, the yeast is improved and fruitier... albeit still not at the standard of a Belgian import to the U.S. I've also had five different brews from Lake Effect since I first tasted Snow, and they are getting this Belgian stuff much better. Hence, I increase their OA Hugs. And I still look forward to Snow in Summer. A votre Sante' !

12 oz. bottle, no bottled on date. Finally getting around to trying this one from Lake Effect Brewing, acquired a single bottle from the local bottle shop.

Poured into a Duvel tulip snifter.

A - Pours a pale light golden body, lots of haze, with light carbonation. Conjures less than half a finger of thin fizzy white head that falls to a ring.

S - A crisp, grainy, wheaty aroma. Subtle floral notes of coriander are noticeable, but wheat / grain seems to be dominant. A yeast-derived tartness seems to be present as well. A light aroma; but intriguing.

T - As with the nose, there is a yeasty / citrusy / tart sour flavor that seems to pervade. Subtle notes of oranges & floral spicing, but this doesn't taste too much along the lines of a traditional Belgian style wheat ale. Pretty flavorful and easy-drinking stuff, nonetheless. Lightly effervescent, grainy, wheaty, & yeasty on the finish.

M - Feel is smooth, crisp, clean, lightly tart / effervescent.

Overall, an interesting interpretation of the Belgian style wheat ale from Lake Effect, looking forward to trying more bottles from these guys, glad to see them finally packaging six packs.
