Upon moving to MA from MD, I needed to locate a LHBS. Well, the beer gods were shining down on me when I learned that this quaint little store was just 1 town over ... lucky me.
NFG is located on a side street of downtown Leominster. The location is perfect for outside commuters coming in from 190, just a couple miles from the ramp into town.
The owner Fran and his wife work the hours of the shop. They have been nothing but helpful to me in choosing supplies, ingrediants and even making the occasional clone. There was even an instance that I accidently froze my WLP yeast to which they swapped out no charge on my brew day.
Fran will also place orders for anything he doesnt have in the store that you might be looking for. He will pull out his ordering catalog and go over what you are looking for that he doesnt stock and have it special ordered.
I have had nothing but positive experiences every time I visit. I cant think of anything negative to say about the place except that it enables me to spend too much money on brewing.

NFG is my go-to home brew supply shop in Massachusetts. Located just outside of Leominister center, they are very convenient for anyone living off Route 2. Don't let their "home" appearance fool you. They are a full blown homebrew shop with a knowledgeable staff and excellent ingredients and supplies. While their hours are a little quirky, once you get used to them you will make your schedule work to do business with them.
They stock a full selection of home brewing supplies including Mini-Brew, Polarware, and True Brew kits. Their ingredients are always fresh and well organized. They have always been happy to mill my grain regardless of how busy they are. Their prices on hops and grain are among the best that I've found in any store in MA. My only gripe is that they do not stock Wyeast Smack Packs. While I like White Labs liquid yeast as well, sometimes it's nice to make a batch without doing a starter.
All in all they are an absolute pleasure to do business with and make you feel like a valued customer regardless of if it's your first time there or your a regular.

This is a nice little homebrew shop in downtown Leominster. When I moved to Leominster 3 years ago, I was ecstatic that there was a homebrew shop right in town, but when I went looking for it, I thought there was a mistake until I saw the sign out in front of the house in a residential area.
The inside of the shop is pretty cramped, but it's fairly well organized and the selection is pretty good (and there's beer on tap!). They have a good selection of ingredients as well as equipment. Lots of kegging fittings and odds and ends that can be hard to find at some HB shops.
There have been a few times that they haven't had things that I was looking for, but it's generally something obscure and they're always happy to order it.
As far as ingredients, the only thing that I've found slightly lacking is the specialty grains. The selection isn't bad, but there are just a few more that I'd like to see them stock.
Prices are typical, not high, not low.
The hours are a little weird, but I can usually find a time to make it in. If it's an emergency situation, you may be out of luck though.
Overall, NFG will handle 95% of the needs of 95% of homebrewers out there. Only the most advanced and adventurous brewers will regularly find their selection lacking. I'd certainly recommend it to anyone.

This is my new go-to homebrew store, i live in Keene New hampshire so the drive isn't too bad. The store is located on the second floor in a noraml looking home, but once inside...it's a mecca of homebrew!! There's everything you could ever want to be a sucessful homebrewer, highest quality hops, yeast, grains, adjuncts and malt. not too mention there's always two nitro-fed kegs full of his latest homebrew....which is always high quality. Samples of his homebrew are free and it lightens the mood. The service is always helpful without being overbaring. This is the spot for the serious homebrewer!!

Visiting this place was the final push to get me into homebrewing.
I once heard another customer in there say "If they don't have it, you don't need it."
NFG has everything (and more) that you need to brew beer and wine (I bought a soda kit there too). Knowledgeable and very friendly people.
The only drawback to NFG is their odd hours; so be sure to check their website before making the drive. There were 2 times they weren't open I ended up visiting 2 other shops; which I'll never do again.

I've been to 4 or 5 homebrew shops and this was by far the best. The owner is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. There hasn't been a time that I've been there yet that I haven't sat around and talked about brewing for at least an hour. When asking about some of their original recipe kits they were more than happy to give me a sample off of the kegerator. As mentioned in other reviews, the place is absolutely packed. A converted second-story apartment, each room is filled to capacity. The prices are among the cheapest I've seen, with many products being at least 20% cheaper than other shops.

I am somewhat of a regular at NFG. I purchase most of my homebrewing supplies there. For such a small space, the shop is packed floor to cieling with anything and everything for the brewer and winemaker -- ingredients, kits, equipment, books, personnel.
I have never gone in and had them be out of something I need.
There are no sales people here, just the owners running their homebrew shop out of the second floor of a two family.
I sometimes go in when I don't really need anything just to ask Fran a few questions. I always end up buying something.
NFG is an excellent local homebrew shop.

You wouldnt even know this place was there unless someone tells you about it. The store is in the secound floor of there double decker home. The whole secound floor is the store. It's alittle cramped but every inch of the place is packed with everything you will need.
The prices are alittle less expensive than other places it's there house, no overhead so it's passed on to the customer.
Unlike other places where you buy you grain precracked you get yours whole here and they offer to mill it for you, it doesnt matter how much. Last time is was there I watched them mill 15lbs, no charge.
The staff is very nice, extremly helpfull and they dont talk down to you if you are not at "their" level of experience like at other shops.
They also keep a couple kegs in the main room for anyone to try their own brews and theres usually a few buckets bubbling away by the register.
Everything you need for brewing or vinting all in one little place.
