went to this establishment with the misses on vacation. it was either here or shorts but having been to shorts
the past 4 years I wanted to change it up. the place is not to bad. pizza is good. wouldn't come
close to rating it the best. the portion size is alil skimp. 14 bucks for a thin ^ss 12 or 14" pizza.
salad wasn't mind blowing. after reading some reviews I have to laugh. we split a Caesar which
is romaine, parm, crouts, and Caesar dressing. does that sound mind blowing or something that
is unique or different to other caesars out there? the vibe is alright. the layout was alright. the
biggest miss for me tho is this place is NOT FOR HOPHEADS!! unless you like just a bitter beer
without flavor being malt or hops. I tried all 4 ipa's they had on tap and they all tasted the same.
I've had homebrews that would take a dump on theirs. for being in traverse city I feel there's
just too many spots to make this a destination. I've been here once and probably won't return.
and yes I regret choosing this place over shorts.

p/s/ I don't want to come off as a d$ck. the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I asked
a woman who seemed to be in charge if she could tell the brewer when he makes ipa's if he could put
more hops in the @ss end for some flavor and aroma. she told me he was her brother in law or something and
that he brews in a English style and their style is unique from what others are doing.

The Filling Station, oddly enough, is located in an old filling station right off the tracks. A host stand greets you when entering and before being seated you walk up a couple stairs to the bar room first which is separate from the dining area, although you can eat in both. The bar is short and only has a couple stools so there's room for patrons to order. 6 or 8 tables and a couple TVs sit in the bar area while the dining area is full of tables and booths.

The taplist is pretty extensive with 15-20 house beers flowing at any given time. I sampled 7-8 on my last visit and all were a hit, some being stellar (stout, IIPA, and English Porter). Happy hour runs from, I believe, 8-11 where most beers ring up at $3.25, which is unbeatable in my opinion. The service was top notch. A younger girl was talkative and excited about her job, my trip, and the world in general. That's refreshing to find these days. The bartender was a little quiet at first but opened up and was talkative about the Chicago beer scene and the haps in Traverse. The Filling Station is another place I would have loved to have spent more time. Check this place out in Traverse!

A brewery at an old train depot that is a very friendly place that I was able to talk to a couple workers about the beer and were happy to talk about what was available. I thought the Huntington IPA and Manhattan Rye were a couple of good beers. They change the beere menu often and so far most beers I had were good to very good, but nothing that makes me pick a must have everytime I go there. I had a couplke of their pizzas..one was one with different type of pork meats with some spicyness and the other had hot spices and peppers on it. Both were really good and flavorfull. They have a variety of 14 different beers in which only 2 are year round and they have many different flat bread pizzas. Still working on trying more stuff here. I do like coming here and is a nice relaxing place to make a stop for a beer or two.

Brewpub is an old railroad stop which was pretty neat. We tried a sampler of 6 - Cambridge IPA, DC ESB, Empire DIPA, Huntington IPA, Manhattan Rye Pale, and Wellington Wheat. Beers were above average to good, but none were truly mind-blowing. We sat outside because it was beautiful out and had so many people stop to ask if we needed anything or if the food was OK, it was almost too much (a unique problem to have). The food was outstanding. My fiancee ate a salad which she said was one of the freshest, best salads she's ever had, and the flatbread pizza was absolutely delicious. Overall a good place to stop in TC.
