On tap at Beer'd's Year of Beer party. Pours a pitch black color with an inch of medium brown head. Lots of lacing. The aroma is of banana, cloves, yeast, and sourness. The taste is some chocolate with cloves, banana, yeast, spices, and some sour funk. There is alot going on. Earthy and tart. Cloves and some orange peel at the finish. Some spicy hops but this is more Belgian-y, if that makes sense. Lots of carbonation. Overall, intresting take on the style that blends well together.

This brew was the result of a collaboration with in-state fellow brewer Relic (Plainville, CT) but each brewed their own versions of it and having tasted both, there is a decided difference (both are very good). The appearance is of an opaque brown-black color, sporting a healthy tan head that collapses into a fine foamy cap with terrific, ringed lacing. The aroma confirms immediate success with fairly sharp pine clove and sweet rhubarb with plenty of malt lurking in the background. The flavor pretty much brings what you would expect from the preceding aspects. Fairly thick dark chocolate malt covered in bright clove and rye-pine nuances. Again I would describe the tart overtones to be rhubarb with other fruit ideas like pear and mango perhaps. It's a great blend of sweetness, tartness, mellow malt and grainy goodness. Really hard not to gush over this, my first real opportunity to evaluate this relatively new brewer. The body is medium-plus but very drinkable with a faintly chalky feel. It has solid constitution but it's hard not to want to guzzle this stuff, without bypassing the tongue! If this were sold in bottles/cans, it would be a regular in my fridge, right next to my Ghandi Bot and 668.
