This big juicy Imperial IPA features Citra and Mosaic hops across a dried out malt backbone yielding notes of citrus and other candied fruits.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a 2F head and moderate lacing.

Smells of floral, grassy hops with malt and citrus.

Tastes of tart grapefruit, orange, lemon and pineapple with a moderately bitter finish. The high ABV hides well.

Medium light body and carbonation. Dry mouthfeel.

This is a dangerously drinkable brew that is complex, juicy and bitter on balance.

Many brewers are offering brews that are light on body and nuance but heavy with the ABV. When I saw the price this in a tallboy can I was expecting one of these. Well, if is, it is the best I have run into so far.

16oz can served in a curvy Fremont glass. Can is dated 06/12/23, I think. Got it from @Roguer in NBS BIF #17 roguery.

Pours a clear brassy amber with about a finger of head, settles into a thick skin that clings all the way up the side of the glass. Smell is grapefruit zest and pith, wet pine needles.

Taste is similar, with a nice grainy background, bitterness, I get a little bit of lemon drop flavor, booze is fairly noticeable as well.

Mouthfeel is medium, a bit toward the heavy side, slightly chewy. Overall, quite nice beer.

Sent to me by Beer’d evangelist @Roguer during NBW BIF #17.
Poured opaque light orange and was topped by a nearly white 1” head that slowly dissipated into a ring and left copious lacing.
The taste was almost a jam covered biscuit; it features an assortment of fruit flavors from citrus to stone fruits and bready malts to make the backbone. Really good.
The feel is crispier than expected, thought it would be a juicy finish but the bitterness makes it almost WC in the swallow.
Nice beer that’s way too easy to drink as not once did I detect any alcohol.

ed into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy, medium golden amber with a four finger white head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus and mixed fruit hops, orange, mixed tropical and stone fruit and a little dankness. Flavor is pale malt, citrus, piney and fruit hops, orange, mixed stone fruit, pine and light berries; nice lingering mixed fruit finish with solid bitterness. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I'm now trying out some new breweries from the East Coast and attempted to get IPA styles that I enjoy, which means mostly none hazy. This one fits that criteria and has a classic modern West Coast style hop bill of Citra and Mosaic, giving it citrus and mixed fruit character. This can is a few months old and the hops seem a little subdued in intensity; not sure whether it is age or intent, but I really like the flavors; the finish in particularly is well balanced fruit flavors and some pine. The deal is sealed with fine finish bitterness. Nicely done and a good introduction to this brewery.

a nice golden pale hue. Not a big head. Not a typical big nose DIPA . Hops appeared to be present but mild. First taste was very smooth, soft, dry with a nice lingering aftertaste.
Not a typical mouth puckering DIPA

Great. But no flavors or hops stand out.

Pours a semi-lucid orange with visible carbonation and creamy white 2 finger head that lingers and leaves lots of lacing. Earthy, piney & floral aromas abound that mesh together rather nicely. Good malt backbone and structure but has an overly bitter ending that loiters and tends to overpower the experience for me. Mouth is medium bodied which hides the ABV but left me wanting more of the sweeter malty notes in the finish that I had perceived earlier . An overall outstanding brew that I would buy again if I came across.

This beer is a good illustration of why I normally don't drink West Coast IPAs anymore. If you have had beers from Tree House and Trillium that use Citra and Mosaic hops, you know right away that this beer is a mistake. It buries the character of the hops under too much malt and booziness. Citra hops should give this beer some citrus qualities but compared to Tree House and Trillium, they are invisible here. Tree House has a beer, Big Blue, that uses Mosaic hops and it has a blueberry taste without adding any blueberries to the fermentation process. There is none of that berry character here. What a waste of time. Ugh.

Bright and clear body, golden color; outstanding carbonation; thick, frothy head, white and sticky. Finely balanced aroma; sweet with a mild citrus quality. Incredibly balanced and flavorful taste; delicate biscuit-like malt; light esters dancing on the palate; gently floral; mild to moderate hop bitterness. Medium body; smooth with a deft velvety feel; light sweetness and subtle juiciness throughout.

For some reason I was expecting this to be a hazy India pale ale, but, lo! It's an incredibly well done west coast styled IPA. Balance and nuance abound while delivering a nifty complexity to the palate. I didn't get a lot of Citra hop character from this sample, but I did pickup on the earthier, pinier and more floral like notes of Mosaic. I like how the alcohol is so well-hidden with this beer. The malts and hops are what shine.
