Crystal clear with modest bar pour head. Leaves some spots on the glass. Straw color liquid.

Mild aroma--soft malt nose.

Full flavored. Starts with a grainy raw malt flavor. Soon there's a true hop wallop of bitter black pepper. Harsh lingering aftertaste. Heavier body than expected, good carbonation. The flavor belies the golden color.

Appearance: high carbonation, 1 inch head, clear, golden in color

Smell: grass, grain, and light hops

Taste: grass, grain, bark, and a good dose of citrus hops

Mouthfeel: light body, moderate carbonation, sweetish start with a bitter middle and a dry bitter end

Overall: One of the biggest disappointments I have had in a while. I understand this is supposed to be a semi-bitter but balanced blonde ale. To me the flavors do not balance well and even clash in places. I had a hard time finishing this one. Some times the hops are a bit strong for the style and for the base malt of the beer. To me this has the feel and taste like an honest attempt at homebrew but nothing I would pay for again.

Consumed 6/5/13

Appearance: Pours a mostly clear but lightly hazy - an attractive orange-dark gold color, maybe with some hints of light amber - small, white head, fades to a minimal cap and leaves some nice wisps of lacing

Smell: Lightly floral, lightly malty - just interesting enough that I wouldn't exactly describe the aroma as mellow - floral citrus with some nice orange and grapefruit - lightly grainy, with some caramelized malt sweetness - lightly toasted bread and some crackers - pretty clean smelling

Taste: Lightly malty and lightly hoppy with a nice floral, kind of spicy kick - lightly toasted grains, caramelized malts, freshly baked bread, light crackers - floral citrus, orange and grapefruit, with some spicy grass/herbal notes - medium amount of bitterness - nicely balanced overall - kind of a resiny, lightly sweet aftertaste, not exactly as clean as the smell suggested

Mouthfeel: Medium body, smooth, mostly crisp but some stickiness in the finish

Overall: Aged on retired barstools

I bought this can a few weeks ago and it ended up towards the back of my fridge. In the meantime, I convinced myself that this was Barstool Brown Ale. Like, a wood-aged brown ale. Anyway, this is a good Blonde. Not the best, but worth a try.

Just noticed these cans popping up locally.

A- Poured from the can into a stange type glass for review purposes. Fills the glass with a golden-slightly orange body. A tiny, bubbly head forms on the beer but quickly fizzes away into just a small ring.

S- Light yeast bread and fruit esters in an aroma that is pretty hard to find. A bit of light biscuity, crackery malt sweetness and grassy hops.

T- Light malty sweetness and flavor up front with notes of biscuit, crackers and bread. Hops more prevalent here than the aroma with a spicy Euro feel that brings grassy and herbal hints as well. Just a tiny bit of fruity esters from the yeast to round it all out.

MF- Light body with a medium-dry feel in the finish as well as a hint of hop bitterness. Carbonation is somewhere between foamy and silky at a moderate-high level.

As far as the BJCP guidelines go, there are no glaring errors here. Also, they set out to make a light drinking, Euro-hopped beer that anyone can enjoy. I know that Blonde Ales will never be revered on BA but there is nothing wrong with this one.

On-tap 1/20/2013 at The Roast House in Pawtucket, RI served in a mug glass.

A: The beer is a light amber color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains caramelized malts, citrus and a good amount of hops.

T: The taste starts out with sweet flavors of caramel and citrus. Then a strong but not over-powering hops presence comes in. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a very good beer pound down for a long time.

12oz can bought as part of a 6-pack from Yankee SPirits, Sturbridge, MA.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/4" white head over the cloudy golden amber brew. Head holds on well, with leggy lasting lace. Aroma is sweet and citrus.

Taste is is pale sweet to start, muted citrus in the middle, and closes lightly bitter. Mouthfeel is smooth, and drinkability is easy. Well put together brew.
