I was very excited to try this after being blown away by Prairie Bomb!

Typical big stout appearance. Near black with a thick, beige cap that leaves some sticky lacing around the snifter. Fabulous aroma. Coffee, roast, oak, booze. As expected / hoped, this is awesome. The rum character comes in late and while present, is another nuance rather than a dominant force. Creamy and smooth, yet bold and assertive. Beautifully blended and executed beer. Such balance and grace for such a huge abv beer. The folks at Prairie Artisan Ales truly have a good thing going. Wow.

A huge thanks to Jeff for this one. 12oz. bottle into a Cigar City snifter alongside Praire Bomb! and shared with schen9303.

Pours the same as Prairie Bomb. Pitch black with a dark mocha head with moderate to low retention. Lacing is even more sparse but the legs are, if its possible, even thicker. Pretty nice.

The rum-barrel aging lends a completely different aroma to this brew. Nose is chocolate, cocoa, molasses, lactose, and cane sugar. Overall sweeter but it loses the robustness from the coffee.

Opens chocolate, molasses, honey and sweet dark fruit. More chocolate, fudge, and cocoa in the middle with hints of booze, oak, and leather at the end. Finishes dark fruit, espresso and cocoa with the same aftertaste. Nice complexity and a pretty unique flavor profile.

Medium to full bodied with low carbonation. Thick, oily and chewy in the mouth and goes down warm and slick. Finishes messy with a lingering aftertaste. The barrels have done wonders for the feel, making it thicker and less carbonated. Very nice!

The rum-barrel aging fixes the biggest problem with this beer: the body. Thickening and smoothing it out. This is a pretty good beer and certainly better than the base.

Pitch black with a simmering brown lacing across the top of the beer. Huge rum nose. I mean huge. It's all you get at first. Then comes some vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and tobacco. The taste is pretty boozy with loads of rum that are immediately rounded out by the chocolate and vanilla primarily. There is definitely some coffee bitterness in there as well. The body of the beer is just the right thickness. It is not quite motor oil, but it is pretty thick. Really enjoyed this sipper of a beer unlike anything else I've had.

Army Green Waxed bottle poured in to snifter.

A - Black with a thin layer of light brown head that reduced to a ring around the edges of the glass.

S - A big dark roasted coffee aroma dominates the nose. Spice (moreso than regular Bomb), sweet vanilla, and cocoa aromas are also present. Not much barrel coming through in the nose.

T - Espresso, cocoa nib, spiced rum, oak, light vanilla and roast. Noticeable alcohol that is warming throughout.

M - Full body. Creamy. Light carbonation.
