Notes/Commercial Description:
Prairie Ale is our classic saison. We brew this beer with pilsner malt, wheat malt, flaked wheat, and cane sugar. A healthy dose of saaz hops are used to add a spicy element to the beer. Prairie Ale is fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, and brettanomyces. Notes of black pepper and pineapple can be found in this beer.

500ml bottle poured into a cervoise. The brew appears a clear golden yellow and subsequent pours get hazy with yeast. A big billowy white head 3+ fingers strong resides across the top with pretty solid retention supported by rising bubbles.

The aroma is lightly tangy and fruity like apple/pear with hints of clove and earth. Some pepper and lemon give way to notes of solvent alcohol as it warms up.

The taste is dry with yeasty spice like clove and pepper. Across the middle are some resinous lemon zest aspects along with fruit like pear and apple. In the finish a hint of plastic and earth evolves with an increasing amount of warming alcohol.

This is a medium to light bodied brew with an effervescent amount of high carbonation. This brew starts out awesome and gets a little peculiar as the experience continues. It almost gets to the point where it is too warming and focuses on alcohol for only being listed as ~8%. Regardless, id buy this again if the price was a little more reasonable.

Thanks to Owen.

Pours yellow with nice white head and cloudy lacing.

Smell is a lot of pineapple and tropical, water cracker flavour and some rice crackers. There are hints of sourness and full on Brett here but really just a lot of pineapple. Bit of Belgian yeast. As time goes on it gets funkier, meatier.

Taste is pineapple, tinned peaches. Quite a bit of citrus. More Belgian yeast. Taste is a little sour, seemingly dry for the duration of the palate but finishes with a decent sweetness.

I don't like the sweet citrus thing it's got going on on the palate. It smells dry and Bretty and I wish it didn't have this growing residual sweetness on the palate which for me undermines it.

Good beer, but palate is ultimately too sweet and watery. It's like a spritzer and I find myself wanting more. Just a bit cloying.

A: Pours a hazy gold with a billowing white head.

S: Aromas of pineapple, mango, bitter orange, lemon, kumquats, grass, herbs, oak, must, biscuits, crackers, and lactic funk express themselves on the nose.

T: Notes of minerals, crackers, biscuit, lemon, lime zest, kumquats, herbs, grass, bitter orange, unripened mango, passion fruit, and pineapple are present, while notes of oak, must, and lactic funk linger in the background throughout. The finish is fruity and funky with a surprisingly bold mix of tropical fruit and funky yeast flavors.

M: Somewhat slight in body, waxy, and a bit sticky. Carbonation is crisp and firm. Alcohol is all but completely undetectable.

O: A really nice saison with lots of complexity.
