Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: StaveHooks on 12-22-2012

Prairie Hop is our hop driven saison. This beer is packed with Simcoe and Citra hops. Notes of peach, mango, and tangerine can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. The beer finishes dry which helps the hops jump out of the glass flavor wise.

25.4 oz. bottle poured into tulip
2013 on cork

L: perfect. misty gold/orange with white foam for days ... the head is classic Belgian farmhouse, a pile of cotton balls, and it's super sticky; you can see the effervescence in the column (it's just clear enough), and the whole thing is just a show, man ... and what a show!

S: strawberries, rasberries, sour grapes, white whie ... lots of sweetness in with the tart/sour farmhouse note; yeast ... and bread dough

T: yes! strawberries, rasberries, grapes, sour grapes, white wine, some sweetness, some tartness ... my gosh. and now back there behind all that are hops, lots of them, American hops, too, with some floral/citrus flavors and a bitter backbone. if it were a pinch less bitter, it might be perfect (for me); as it is, damn ... this thing is good.

F: mesmerized by look, smell, flavor, it's hard not to say the mouthfeel is perfect. classic Belgian again, loads of carbonation but not harsh, rip-your-tongue-off carbonation ... it's bubbly and full but just soft enough to feel right (possibly TOO right ... i'm wanting to suck it down like water!)

O: now *this* is a true Belgian-American hybrid. it's mixing several quality Belgian notes with some nice American hop notes to create a fantastic saison. and the amazing thing: nothing is overdone. it's not a hop salad, not super sweet, not overly tart, not too murky, not antiseptic clear ... it's a pinch over my favorite bitter line, but it's NOT too bitter, not even close.

easy to see why so many like this brew. it's freaking good. (1,553 characters)

perfectly stated packaging, opens to reveal a most excellent aroma. It pours with a rich golden straw color, crowned by dense pale head that slowly reduces to a thin ever present visually pleasing icing for this wonderful slice of rich cake. The taste is incredible, it as if someone has taken my favorite IPA and Blended it with the best of Belgian saisons. this beer left me satisfied yet wanting another like a a drug addict needing another fix. (448 characters)

This seemed to be a nice hybrid between an IPA and a Saison.

In a snifter the beer was a clear gold color with a very thin tan head.

Interesting aroma. Citrus, sweet malt like an IPA. Earthy hops and spice like a saison.

Lemon, orange, pineapple taste. Earthy hops. Spice.

Wow! Really tasty. Soft in the mouth. (314 characters)

Pours a hazy, vibrant orange with thin white head that slowly dissipates leaving little trace. Wonderful aroma of peaches, pineapple, mango, grass and flowers. Flavors of stone fruit, citrus and a touch of yeast. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Crisp, clean finish. Complex beer with many layers. So far I'm a fan of Prairie Artisan Ales. (354 characters)

Deep gol in color with a slight haziness in the body. Vibrant carbonation bubbles are plentiful. There's a half inch of eggshell colored minuscule sized carbonation bubbles. Aroma is comprised of sourdough bread, tropical hops and grassy saison yeast. I taste a blend of sourdough bread, tropical hops and earthy saison yeas. The tropical hops really give it a unique twist. APA meets saison. There's plenty of carbonation and the mouth is crisp and refreshing. (465 characters)
