Notes & Commercial Description:

Prairie Hop is our hop driven saison. This beer is packed with Simcoe and Citra hops. Notes of peach, mango, and tangerine can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. The beer finishes dry which helps the hops jump out of the glass flavor wise.

Purchased in San Antonio and shipped back in my luggage. Poured into a tulip.

A very dry brew! A dry saison with the up-front hoppiness of a DIPA. I prefer my hoppy IPA/DIPAs with enough sweetness or maltiness to balance the hoppiness, which can still be very pronounced and over the top. As a Belgian ale Prairie Hop is missing this favorable balance and thus while a tasty beer, it both falls outside of normal style characteristics and my prefered tastes. 4.0

A – Pours a pale golden, cloudy with a big mousey white 2-finger head. 4.5

S – Hoppy apricot then grapefruit, sweetness, some earthy yeastiness. 4

T – Herbal hoppiness, bitter but quickly fades, a little yeasty. No pepperiness though probably overwhelmed by or otherwise masked by the hoppiness. 3.75

MF – Medium-light body, dry finish, no lasting bitterness, very sharp. 4.25

A lot of tropical fruit and citrus hops flavors. Solidly bitter. A moderate spice from the yeast.

perfectly stated packaging, opens to reveal a most excellent aroma. It pours with a rich golden straw color, crowned by dense pale head that slowly reduces to a thin ever present visually pleasing icing for this wonderful slice of rich cake. The taste is incredible, it as if someone has taken my favorite IPA and Blended it with the best of Belgian saisons. this beer left me satisfied yet wanting another like a a drug addict needing another fix.

This seemed to be a nice hybrid between an IPA and a Saison.

In a snifter the beer was a clear gold color with a very thin tan head.

Interesting aroma. Citrus, sweet malt like an IPA. Earthy hops and spice like a saison.

Lemon, orange, pineapple taste. Earthy hops. Spice.

Wow! Really tasty. Soft in the mouth.

Pours a hazy, vibrant orange with thin white head that slowly dissipates leaving little trace. Wonderful aroma of peaches, pineapple, mango, grass and flowers. Flavors of stone fruit, citrus and a touch of yeast. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Crisp, clean finish. Complex beer with many layers. So far I'm a fan of Prairie Artisan Ales.

Looks and feels like a tripel, but tastes like a blend between that and a saison. I would have expected the dry-hopping to add more floral notes to this, but instead it seems to have mellowed it somewhat. There is an interesting amount of hops late in the swallow, however. Solid entry from Prairie Artisan Ales, in my opinion.
