Prairie Hop is our hop driven saison. This beer is packed with Simcoe and Citra hops. Notes of peach, mango, and tangerine can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. The beer finishes dry which helps the hops jump out of the glass flavor wise.

Corked and caged 750 ml bottle, kindly shared by gunnar. ABV is 7%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Fine aroma of saison yeast, mild spices and fruity hops (peaches and mango). Very hoppy flavour, the American hops dominate, and the more subtle saison elements become subdued.

A: Pours up mildly cloudy amber with a pillowy, off white, 2.5 finger head with decent retention and prominent, frothy lacing.
S: Aroma is grass, lemon, and estery yeast with a slight honeyed quality. Slightly cheesy on the nose.
T: Immediate honey vibes, not bracingly sweet, but has a syrupy flavor that I don’t really enjoy. Crisp in some ways but without sufficient bitterness to balance the sweet notes. Slightly soapy, not terribly enjoyable. Too sweet. A slightly minty aftertaste. Slightly phenolic. Mild Tartness.
M: Crisp enough, nothing to write home about either way.
P: Prairie has some great saisons, but this is not one of them. I do think there is potential for a classic here if they could dial up the grain, and dial back the sweetness. Prairie Standard and Prairie Vous Francais are both great but this I can do without.

Poured into a tall clear pint glass. Murky and dark orange with many small bubbles fizzling in the body. There are specks and particles suspended in the beer. Head is a dirty tan with decent retention and good lacing. Looks like a lot of life going on in there.

Aroma has very sweet hops. I smell apricots, peaches, mango, tangerines, melon, oranges, bready malts, yeast, flowers, and also straw and grass. Very complex.

The earthy and grassy hops really balance out the sweet presentation from the aroma. Everything tastes like in the aroma, although there are other notes like apple rinds and grapefruit. What's interesting is how lively all the flavors are, the fruity notes being both under-ripe and overripe. It also tastes a little like champagne. Medium-body feel. Altogether bold and well-rounded.

Very impressive American take.

Pouring from a 12 oz. bottle into a snifter glass. This beer pours out slightly hazy and golden dark straw in color. Forms a great one finger width rocky and dense crown that is off white in color. The smell is funky and earthy with some fruity notes and straw presence. Smells like it could be a little tart. Very pleasant. The taste comes in with some fruit notes like tart melon, peaches and then some funky earth like straw. It ends up being very slightly tart with some acidity but far from sour. This is a very good saison. The mouthfeel is dry and well carbonated. Really good for the style. I really enjoy this.

Prairie just can't go wrong! Luckily it isn't a Belgian Ale but a perfect Farmhouse Ale in Prairie fashion! It is quite American hoppy in the nose and the taste is a well balanced, hop forward saison, almost sour here with quite some spice in there.
And then halfway through the yeast becomes more and more remarkable and makes me realize that it is indeed a Belgian Saison or at least it is what the yeast makes me think of. But the American hops just make it smell and taste perfect and this is what it counts! Although I was not impressed with this as much as Prairie's other brews, still it was 100% fun and great beer and this is what I love about them! All good!
