Notes/Commercial Description:
Prairie Hop is our hop driven saison. This beer is packed with Simcoe and Citra hops. Notes of peach, mango, and tangerine can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. The beer finishes dry which helps the hops jump out of the glass flavor wise.

Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a becker glass.

Appearance: Pours a translucent (not super hazy but fairly hazy) amber/gold and leaves a couple fingers of white head, which lingers around for a bit.

Smell: Quite an aroma - very herby/grassy with some nice citrus hoppiness to it. Very pleasant and light. Pepper, lemon, citrus, light coriander, grass, mango. Mouth-watering.

Taste: Matches the smell. Grassy with plenty of light & pleasant spices, citrus, orange peel, lemon zest. It really does remind me of a prairie (whatever that means). Very light and balanced flavors - I'm intrigued that this says 7% ABV, this one seems like an awesome session saison but that would be a little risky. That said, very sessionable flavor.

Mouth-feel: Medium, very nice carbonation with a medium to light body. Fairly light and fluffy. Maybe a hint of a syrupy texture to it, but definitely not that noticeable. This one goes down really smooth and nice.

Overall: Extremely refreshing, the hops really add some nice elements to this one. Grassy and fruity this is an excellent saison/hop beer with a tremendous smoothness and balance. I am very impressed with this brew and will be coming back to it often.

Opaque and murky dark orange, thin layer of white foam on the surface. Soapy, sudsy lace in the glass forming in irregular shapes.

Citric aroma of tangerine and grapefruit from the dry hopping.

Tart grapefruit, tangerine sweetness, peels, pith, and flesh. Earthy bitter greens. Ghostly hint of clover honey in the aftertaste. Tartness is pleasant and fruit-derived, it finishes dry with some lingering herbals from the base saison. Complexity is there, this beer is really well put together and drinkable. For fans of Crooked Stave, Fantome, etc.

Picked this up in Portland, Maine and enjoyed in HF glass

This had a vibrant orange color, like a warm horizon at sunset. The smell was of fresh mango and a bite of fresh hop pine. Secondary orange, banana, and pineapple. Taste is, if you can imagine, like the best mcDonald's orange drink I've ever had. Orange Julius with lots of teeth that bite your tongue and hold on as you drink it. This is exactly what it says it is on the bottle, a hoppy farmhouse ale and it's wonderful. See Prairie, drink Prairie.

Pours a hazy light amber color with a frothy white head that leaves little bits of lacing.

Smells of bright citrus and grassy notes along with some fruit and pepper.

Tastes of the grassy and peppery notes laid over top of the fruit notes. Grass and lemon zest notes come through first. This leads into some apricot and green apple notes along with a light syrupy sweetness. Some graininess comes through and fills out the middle. Touches of peppery spice comes in the end rounding everything out.

Mouthfeel is medium-full with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is tasty, but gets knocked down a little due to price, $13 for a 750.

Poured 25.4oz bottle into Duvel tulip.

A - Golden haze orange in color with 2 finger white head. Slowly fades with almost no ring remaining. Lacing is almost non existent.

S - Citrus and straw some light biscuit and yeast.

T - Taste is incredible. Big juicy citrus and tropical fruit with lemon. Mild spice with a Belgian yeast. Finishes with a touch or tart and bitter, but not much. This is similar to Ale Asylum Bedlam, but I like this even more.

M - Light and crisp with nice carbonation. Very refreshing.

O - This could be one of the best Saisons brewed. I wish this was distributed to WI, because I would buy it frequently in the summer months. Way to go Prairie Ales. Thank you 4balance!

As near a perfect beer as you can get, especially for warmer weather. Opened a bottle courtesy of regular trading partner Chocosushi. Pours a nice orange-golden color with a creamy white head. Nice lacing with a prominent ring that lasts throughout the drink. The nose reminds me of PTE ... lots of hoppy pineapple, tangerine, and citrus aromas, with just a touch of saison/farmhouse yeast. Taste follows the nose...simply fantastic! Perfect body and mouthfeel for a saison. To me, this is what a saison would be if Russian River took their recipe for PTE and made a farmhouse version. One of the best beers I have had in the past year. Extremely well done, Prairie, and I look forward to your distribution area arriving in Texas soon.

Poured from a caged bottle into a snifter, the beer is a slightly hazed, golden-straw coloring with a frothy, big bubbled, light, bright white head that retains around an inch and a half. Solid stream of carbonation bubbling throughout, also. Aromas of wet greens initially, with some citrus hops highlights and coriander spicing. Flavors are extremely well balanced, with a forward flavor of wet, peppery hops balanced with citrus and berry sweetness. There is a bready and roasted backbone that also blends and supports the spice and funk. Slightly warming, and the smooth body makes this a severely easy drinker. Wow. Candy sweet and herbal aftertaste that balances perfectly, and is subtle enough to draw you further in. Smooth, clean finish, with a hint of citrus and spice left behind to linger. Great brew.

Bottle served in tulip glasses.

Hazy, bright orange appearance in the glass with a light white head. Many tiny bubbles bounce to the surface. The scent has a fair bit going on. The yeast is very faint as the hops take over with citrus and some grassy/pine. The taste is like tangerine juice. Loads of tangerine flavor with a bittering finish. The finish is a clean bitterness though that plays well and balances. I'm a big fan of the effervescence in this beer. It makes the beer much brighter and even more enjoyable to drink. I have a hard time calling this a saison. It almost drinks like a beer-mosa. It was a pleasure and quite tasty.

Another one from willandperry, thanks man!

Appearance. Pours a deep gold colour, quite hazy and topped with a finger of frothy white head.

Smell. Trpoical fruits! Papaya, mango, pineapple, all in a big way. There's a little sweet orange and grapefruit and a faint bit of saison yeast underneath all that fruit and an even slighter bit of sweet grainy malts. Very nice!

Taste. Wow, again juicy ripe papaya and mango, candied pineapple, a bit of orange flesh and grapefruit rind, just a little bit of peppery saison yeast and floral hops and a little bit of sweet light malt. Really nice stuff.

Mouthfeel. Medium body, medium-low carbonation.

Overall. Okay, this one blew me away. Just amazing tropical fruit smell and flavour that goes so well with the saison yeast. I need more of this. Thanks again Will!!
