Notes/Commercial Description:
Prairie Gold is a dry, highly effervescent saison fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, lactobacillus and 2 strains of brettanomyces. This beer highlights the various yeasts and bacteria used to make it. Lemon, pear, white wine grapes, and a touch of funk dominate the flavor and aroma in this champagne like beer.

Bottle split 4 ways at tasting.

A: Hazy and yellow. 2 finger thick foamy head. Exactly what a sour farmhouse ale should look like.

S: Notes of lemon, hay, brett and citrus. Pretty good nose on this beer. This is what a summer beer should smell like.

T: Wow, I could drink glass after glass of this on a hot day. This to me might be the most perfect beer for summer that I have ever tasted. In layman's terms, it tastes like a earthy, funky saison lemondade. Tart, refreshing, funky and lemon. Delicious.

M: Good carbonation so it really was clean on the finish and on the tongue.

O: I have yet to have anything other than an outstanding beer from Prairie and these guys are quickly becoming my must-have brewery every time I go to the bottle shop. This was outstanding. Nice work PAA.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Very cloudy yellow body. Medium sized white head. Big bubbles, but not many of them.

Smell - Much like a berliner. Tartness. Fruity. Grainy malt dominates.

Taste - Again much like a berliner. Tart. Citrusy. Juicy tartness. Slight bit of funk to it, but only a hint. Again very grainy.

Mouthfeel - Medium carbonation. Moderate tartness. Light bodied.

Overall - Didn't expect something so Berliner-y. Tasty. Monotonous.

Pours a super effervescent gold with nice noisiness & a rapidly falling pearl colored head. Some lacing & head retention, bubbles cling to the glass stubbornly

S: Wet grainyness & cereal, apple skins & a bit of dirty funk.

T: Green apples, lemons & tartness, plus a bit of grapefruit up front. Tartness, apple skins & grapefruit as this warms, much sourness as well. Finishes puckery, sour, with pears, grapefruit & a touch of apple skin

MF: Light bodied, lively carbonation, very puckery

Through the roof drinkability, this would be a nice one to put in 4 packs

Thanks to thewimperoo for sharing this one!

Murky orange juice-like appearance, initial frothy foam that settles quickly to a skim. Opaque with tiny champagne streamers around the edges.

Fruity citrus aroma, reminds me of a mimosa.

Bright and tart, quenching and dry in the aftertaste. Spritzy feel. Light grapefruit and unripe grapes. Firm tart feel, puckering and sticks in the teeth. Smooth and medium bodied. Overall a nice sour ale, similar to Standard and Prairie Ale somewhat.
