Notes/Commercial Description:
Prairie Gold is a dry, highly effervescent saison fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, lactobacillus and 2 strains of brettanomyces. This beer highlights the various yeasts and bacteria used to make it. Lemon, pear, white wine grapes, and a touch of funk dominate the flavor and aroma in this champagne like beer.

A - Pours slightly hazy and has a bright golden body. There's a two finger eggshell head that fades as quickly as it rose.

S - Lemon and white grape tartness. Just that kind of funk that pleases and seems so refreshing.

T - Good amount of tartness, not overly sour, with huge lemon qualities. Picking up some saison characteristics with light spices on the end. But, this is all tart & funk.

M - Light bodied, medium to full carbonation and a dry finish that makes you crave more.

O - So so so satisfying! Prairie is doing some great things. Not to mention their labels are so damn cool!

Tough to pigeonhole this beer. It tastes and smells like a glass of fresh lemonade but isn't quite as tart/lactic as a berliner. I get a hint of tartness but it is balanced by sweetness. The mouthfeel really carries the flavors without being heavy. Almost wine-like in the body as well as being highly effervescent. I was tipped off that I needed to try this Prairie offering and it couldn't have been more correct. I'd drink this all day especially in the summer. Hard to compare to anything, but delicious all by itself.
