Notes/Commercial Description:
Prairie Gold is a dry, highly effervescent saison fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, lactobacillus and 2 strains of brettanomyces. This beer highlights the various yeasts and bacteria used to make it. Lemon, pear, white wine grapes, and a touch of funk dominate the flavor and aroma in this champagne like beer.

Thanks willandperry, just loving this Prairie Artisan stuff!

Appearance. Pours a hazy straw gold with two fingers of frothy white head.

Smell. Lemons, dry brett, green grapes and red apples, wood and some musty funk.

Taste. Sour green grapes and woody white wine. There's a bit of dry brett funk and a bit of musty basement as well.

Mouthfeel. Lighter body, medium-strong fine and lively carbonation.

Overall. Probably the worst of the P.A. beers but that's not necessarily a bad thing. A nice sour that I would drink often if available here, just not quite as good at their other offerings.

poured 12oz bottle into Duvel Tulip

A - Pours a very light hazy yellow lemonade like color. Gorgeous 2-3 finger white head that fades as quickly only to leave a thin white ring around the glass. Lacing is not present.

S - Lemons, tart apples and hints of white grape. A slight funk is present with a grass like smell.

T - This is fantastic tasting. Not overly sour to make you pucker, but a nice sharp tartness of lemon. It really is like homemade lemonade. Not much funk in the taste. This is the best "sour" I have probably had.

M - Very nice carbonation with a tart, dry finish that is so refreshing!

O - Hands down my favorite sour that I have tried. Really wish I could get this in WI. Thanks goes out to Ken in OK for sending it my way.

A - Pours slightly hazy and has a bright golden body. There's a two finger eggshell head that fades as quickly as it rose.

S - Lemon and white grape tartness. Just that kind of funk that pleases and seems so refreshing.

T - Good amount of tartness, not overly sour, with huge lemon qualities. Picking up some saison characteristics with light spices on the end. But, this is all tart & funk.

M - Light bodied, medium to full carbonation and a dry finish that makes you crave more.

O - So so so satisfying! Prairie is doing some great things. Not to mention their labels are so damn cool!
