750 ml shared bottle, thanks to my son Magnus. From Vinmonopolet Lakselv. Deep golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of farmhouse / brettanomyces, dry white wine and lemons. Medium sour and astringent flavour, fairly dry. notes of lemons, brett, oak and lactic acid.

2016 vintage, and one of the most striking beers we had on an incredible beer trip, a real standout even in a crowd of heavy hitters, this straight up blew our collective minds. it is basically lambic, a fully wild oaky blonde brew that somehow never got any attention from anyone, its world class. bright brassy golden colored brew, near still after a moment, perfectly clear, and shiny. the aroma is amazing, funky mature brett, clean dense oak, aged hops, raw wheat, a turbid mash i would think, careful bottle conditioning, its unique and my mouth waters to taste it. the flavor is just as good, so farmy and rustic and old worldy, but also so well refined at the same time, this could have come from any of the notable lambic makers of belgium, its that good. so much funk in the flavor, a bright white wine acidity with subtle notes of grape, honeydew, mango, and even under ripe strawberry. so much wood, so much funk. its almost totally still in the glass which i know is sometimes traditional in this style, but it want it to be lively, i always do, and its not. the acidity moves it along well enough though, and i kind of like it taking its time on my palate because its so interesting and good. amazing depth of flavor here from all the elements, a highly refined brew with a very unique yeast complexion and worthy of any lambic basket in my opinion!

Blondette '14 vintage

Many thanks to Emil for the bottle.

Pours a clean, straw yellow color, with a fizzy, small head.

Has aromas of white lemon peel, bread, marzipan, old, sliced potatoe, together with a decent tart note, tying all ingredients together. All in all the nose seems well balanced, while remaining quite modest.

Reveals a lower carbonation, among a light body, enhancing its citraic dryness.

Lemons are far more intense, than the nose revealed, dominating the beers character, with bready malts exhibiting enough balance. A whiff of leather accompanies the dry, crisp lemons with a pleasant brett sourness. Finishes with a slick, dry tartness, providing herbs on the back end of the palate, while the malts turn a tad sweeter during the end.

Overall this beer is quite convincing, due to its straight-forward lemon character. It doesn't offer a lot of depth though, which is an aspect I often find and admire in Belgian Lambics. The lack of depth in this one gets compensated by a punchy tartness.
